The profile known as CyberLeek interrupted a series of leaks of images from the game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) on August 27th. The interruption occurred after the movement of approximately US$250,000 in cryptocurrencies linked to the $CYBERLEEK token, which generated an abrupt drop in the value of the asset and provoked accusations of fraud among investors.

The person or group responsible for the account used previously unseen videos of the highly anticipated game to promote a memecoin on social media platforms. Publications were suspended shortly after the funds were transferred to several digital wallets, suggesting the end of the campaign.

Over the course of just over a week, CyberLeek released 15 unauthorized excerpts from GTA 6. The materials contained watermarks, messages about the importance of preserving physical media and a QR code that directed interested parties to the acquisition of the cryptocurrency created by the leaker himself.

The strategy took advantage of the great enthusiasm surrounding a game special on the Netflix platform to attract new investors. In some of the messages, the person responsible for the leaks conditioned the continuity of disclosures on the volume of negotiations and the appreciation of the digital currency.

An analysis carried out by user Vice Cit, published on the GTAForums forum, indicated that around US$250,000 was sent to different wallets during the early hours of August 27th. Part of these resources passed through the CCE.Cash platform, known for offering privacy features in transactions.

The incident differs from the traditional format known as ‘rug pull’, where creators sell a large portion of their reserves and abandon the project. CyberLeek had previously burned 270 million tokens, which gave the false impression that it did not have enough units for a massive and sudden withdrawal.

The profit obtained, therefore, appears to have come mostly from the fees charged on each $CYBERLEEK transaction. The increase in interest generated by the leaked videos meant that these fees accumulated a significant amount before being transferred to at least three different destinations.

After the financial movement, the token’s price recorded a drop of approximately 86%, plummeting from a peak of US$0.034 to less than US$0.005. Consequently, the market value, which was previously estimated at US$23.39 million, dropped to around US$3.23 million.

The cessation of leaks also raises questions about the leaker’s real level of access to the game. Although CyberLeek claimed to have a recent version of GTA 6, the videos released showed few story details and almost no completed missions, which suggests possible limited access to a trial version.

Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is already committed to identifying the individuals behind the leaks. The United States Court authorized the request for information from Microsoft and Discord, including IP addresses, emails and phone numbers associated with the investigated accounts.

To date, no authority has officially classified the operation as fraud, nor identified those responsible. The values and method used were disclosed by a community investigation reflected on several portals, and should be treated as allegations until there is independent confirmation.
