Striker David Corrêa, known as DVD, Vasco da Gama player, is the target of search and seizure warrants in the police operation “A Tropa”, launched on August 31, 2026. The action combats interstate trafficking of drugs and weapons, in addition to money laundering.

Renyer Oliveira, another striker with spells at Santos and currently at Azuriz, from Pato Branco (PR), is also one of those being investigated. He was arrested for contempt and resistance in the state of São Paulo while executing a court order.

The police teams carried out four temporary arrest warrants and fifteen search and seizure warrants in different locations in Brazil. The operations extended to the municipalities of Grande Vitória and Afonso Cláudio, in Espírito Santo, as well as targets in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and the Federal District, indicating the vast ramifications of the criminal group.

In Rio de Janeiro, agents from the 14th DP (Leblon) and the Specialized Police Station for Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives (Disarme) executed three search and seizure warrants. The addresses included David Corrêa’s residence, in Barra da Tijuca, and Vasco da Gama’s training center, in Jacarepaguá, both in the Southwest Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

The Vasco player used his own vehicle, whose license plate contains the sequence “DVD”, to travel to the club’s CT, where he followed the proceedings. David Corrêa chose not to speak to the press when leaving the place.

Details of the investigation conducted in Espírito Santo

The investigations led by the Civil Police of Espírito Santo are investigating the possible involvement of other professional athletes and businesspeople in the criminal organization.

The operation was carried out simultaneously in several states, with the mobilization of around one hundred civil police officers, more than 38 vehicles and two helicopters, highlighting the interstate scale of police coordination.

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro reported that the joint action between the civil police of the states aims to comply with legal measures and combat criminal organizations that operate interstate.

The authorities in Espírito Santo clarified that the name of the operation, “A Tropa”, is a reference to the way the investigated themselves called themselves to identify the criminal group.
