Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar has shared details about his recovery from a wrist injury that prevented him from competing in the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix. He was replaced by Liam Lawson at Zandvoort, but expressed optimism about a possible return for the Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for September 1, 2026.

In a video released by Red Bull on digital platforms on August 29, 2026, the French driver showed his hand still bandaged and confirmed that the recovery process is progressing quickly.

“This is, in fact, my first injury in my entire life and career. It’s strange to be on the bench and I’m not happy about it, neither for myself nor for the team. Obviously, I want to be there for every lap,” Hadjar said about the situation.

Hadjar’s broken wrist occurred during the European summer holidays, while he was boxing and punching a sandbag. The pilot is an enthusiast of the sport and regularly incorporates it into his training routine.

Hadjar detailed that mobility in the injured area has continually improved and mentioned that there is no swelling, a positive sign for his recovery.

“It’s not swollen, which is very good and an excellent sign,” said the pilot. “Actually, I’m recovering quickly. Every day I gain a little more mobility and I’m hopeful for Monza.”

The Red Bull team has not yet issued an official statement regarding Hadjar’s participation in the Italian Grand Prix. Although the main race is scheduled for the last day of the event, free practice sessions start early.

If Hadjar is unable to compete again, he will be replaced once again by Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson. The New Zealander’s participation with Red Bull in the previous race generated a place in the junior team, allowing Japanese Yuki Tsunoda to compete in the 2026 Formula 1 for the first time.

Isack Hadjar is a teammate of four-time champion Max Verstappen and currently occupies eighth place in this year’s championship, with 68 points. His best performance of the season was fourth place at the Monaco Grand Prix. However, Red Bull, in conjunction with McLaren, are contesting third place from Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. If the appeal is successful and Gasly loses positions, Hadjar could achieve a podium position.
