Mistral completed a Series D financing round of €3 billion, valuing the European artificial intelligence firm at more than €21 billion. The transaction represents the largest equity capital raise ever achieved by a European technology enterprise, coming three years after the startup began operations.

Samsung Electronics took the lead in the round alongside co-leads Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, and existing backer PSG Equity.

Fresh capital finances the expansion of core scientific research that anchors the infrastructure, commercial products and sovereignty goals of Mistral. Compute resources will grow to train advanced systems while the business accelerates international operations. The organisation currently maintains operations across 20 countries and provides artificial intelligence infrastructure to more than 125 enterprise clients, including Airbus, ASML and HSBC.

Early development of generative systems centered on building raw computing capability, but public institutions and businesses now seek methods to deploy software without yielding command of underlying infrastructure. Global demand increases for independent deployment options as corporate boards and state entities evaluate data governance requirements, long-term technical dependencies and vendor risks.

Mistral develops the entire technical pipelineencompassing open-weight model architectures, execution hardware, processing capacity and deployment software—to prevent clients from facing vendor lock-in regarding roadmap priorities, pricing structures or service availability.

This open architecture enables external organizations to construct tools without transferring proprietary workflows, internal knowledge or sensitive records outside organizational borders. The technical architecture governs four distinct operational dimensions: keeping proprietary data within corporate perimeters, enabling modification of models, ensuring private and predictable compute operations, and maintaining full auditability of production software.

Global investors endorsed the approach. Capital came from partners based throughout Europe, Asia and North America. The investment group combines corporate technology leaders, expansion funds and long-term shareholders backing operational growth.

Following an earlier Series C round headed by ASML and this Series D financing led by Samsung Electronics, industrial engineering and hardware manufacturing corporations backed the deployment of Mistral software across demanding operating environments without loss of control over data or infrastructure.

Advent, investment accounts overseen by BlackRock and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg entered the shareholder register as new participants. Previous investors participating in the financing include a16z, ASML, Belfius, BNP Paribas CIB, Bpifrance, Carmignac, DST Global, Eurazeo, General Catalyst, Headline, Hillspire, Index Ventures, Korelya Capital, Lightspeed, NVIDIA, Phoenix Court’s Solar fund and Salesforce Ventures.
