Civil Police officers arrested 33-year-old Jorlan Lopes da Silva in the municipality of Mulungu on September 13, 2026, as he attempted to escape disguised in women clothes while holding an infant. The detainee faces charges for multiple homicides across Paraíba and confessed during interrogation to executing roughly 80 individuals throughout his life.
The homicide investigation team does not yet validate the full confession regarding the 80 victims. Police Chief Douglas Garcia confirmed that detectives have already gathered material evidence tying the suspect to 16 homicides across the Vale do Mamanguape region. Inquiries continue to map the remaining allegations.
Official records indicate that Silva initiated violent offenses during early adolescence after he admitted his first killing occurred at the age of 13. Silva served between five and six years in prison before securing release in May 2026, after which he executed 16 people prior to his detention on September 13, 2026.
His criminal record includes the targeted execution of two merchants on August 1 in the town of Rio Tinto. Garcia stated that Silva carried out that double homicide alongside four armed accomplices. The group operated under direct orders from regional syndicate coordinators.
Investigators also examine the killing of an unidentified woman in the same territory. Silva directed police teams directly to the clandestine grave where officers unearthed the victim.
Investigators cross-check forensic reports against claims of dozens of deaths
Silva reiterated his responsibility for 80 homicides before magistrates and detectives during formal depositions in Mulungu.

The detailed confession mobilized investigators throughout the regional station. Silva remains in custody.
Civil Police technicians and forensic specialists compare the inmate declarations against archived police incident reports and autopsy files. They seek physical evidence to corroborate each admitted homicide. Garcia noted that every past report from the region will undergo verification.
“It is a very substantial number, and we believe that if it is not that exact figure, it is something very close to it,” stated Douglas Garcia. Forensic teams expect preliminary confirmation on several older cold cases within weeks.
Silva avoided earlier apprehensions by establishing permanent campsites in dense woodland areas following each shooting. This operational tactic hindered security patrols from locating him rapidly
