Storms halt rescue of Rick and Bruno Avelar in Santa Catarina

Rescue teams in Santa Catarina located the missing aircraft transporting singer Rick and businessman Bruno Avelar on the night of 21. Search coordinators on site confirmed finding the downed flight.

Search crews found the wreckage inside a deep mountain canyon where rugged topography and violent lightning storms prevented emergency responders from reaching the five occupants either by ground vehicles or by low-altitude aircraft during the night.

Severe weather and canyon terrain stall rescue efforts

Rain halted the mission. Strong gusts and electrical activity struck the ridge, leaving the physical condition of the five people on board unconfirmed.

• Rick from the musical duo with Renner
• Businessman Bruno Avelar

Military personnel evaluated deployment of heavy agricultural drones capable of transporting cargo into the ravine. Operational commanders examined technical viability before authorizing any aerial transport toward the exact coordinates. Firefighters remained fully mobilized in the sector to resume ground operations on the morning of 22.
