Xbox frees 5 big Ubisoft games with discounts reaching 85 percent

Xbox console owners can play five big-budget Ubisoft games without paying for an Xbox Game Pass subscription from Thursday (1) through Sunday (4) in October 2026. The promotional access period covers five full titles across Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, allowing all registered account holders to download and test the catalog at no cost.

Microsoft confirmed the open structure as an exclusive partnership with the French publisher for its weekly Free Play Days initiative. “Your weekend plans are officially set with Ubisoft’s Free Play Days takeover,” stated Kyle Ocean, marketing manager at Xbox, highlighting the temporary removal of typical service paywalls.

Standard editions of the weekly promotion normally restrict access to active subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Core or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This release cycle operates under an open model designated for every registered console profile, eliminating the recurring membership requirement across the entire selection.

Participants retain all progress achieved across the test window. Experience points, saved campaign data, Gamerscore tallies, and unlocked Xbox achievements automatically transfer over if an account holder purchases any of the titles after the test period concludes.

The lineup features five standalone titles across multiple action, racing, and adventure genres:

• Far Cry 6, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
• Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
• Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, playable on Xbox Series X|S
• Skull and Bones, playable on Xbox Series X|S
• The Crew Motorfest, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S

Xbox promotional discounts reach 85 percent on digital store editions

Ubisoft paired the free access window with price reductions of up to 85 percent across participating digital editions on the Microsoft Store. These sale prices remain tied to individual game store pages for players seeking permanent licenses.

Far Cry 6 received the steepest base reduction among the group, cutting the standard release price to less than ten dollars for console digital libraries. Action and exploration releases within the selection also carry reduced purchase prices during the four-day event window.

Confirmed sale prices on the official digital storefront include:

• Far Cry 6 standard edition: US$ 8.99, reduced from the standard price of US$ 59.99
• Assassin’s Creed Odyssey standard edition: US$ 11.99, reduced from the standard price of US$ 59.99
• Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora standard edition: US$ 16.49, reduced from the standard price of US$ 29.99

Free Play Days structure shifts from earlier multi-tier rotations

The open format contrasts with previous rotations organized by the platform holder in late September 2026. During the week preceding this publisher event, the service featured The Escapists 2, PGA Tour 2K25, Young Suns, and The Division 2, using a split access framework that separated full public trials from subscriber-only downloads.

Publisher takeovers occasionally alter the standard operational terms of the program. By opening the entire five-title catalog without membership checks, both companies broadened trial participation across the hardware family for the duration of the early October campaign.

Platform installation steps and technical limits for Xbox players

Console users can start downloads directly through the Subscriptions tab within the Xbox Store interface on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, navigating directly to the Free Play Days hub. Web users can initiate installation queues by signing into their Microsoft account on individual product listings across Xbox.com, which redirects to the Microsoft Store to trigger remote downloads.

Different retail editions of The Crew Motorfest and Skull and Bones, including Standard, Cross-Gen Bundle, and Deluxe editions, feature varying price tiers across regions during the campaign. Exact completion deadlines and server shutdown schedules across individual international time zones have not yet been confirmed by platform administrators.
