Sinner and Alcaraz consolidate hegemony on the men’s tennis circuit with titles in all Grand Slams played in 2024 and 2025. Italian Jannik Sinner, aged 24, won the ATP Finals this Sunday (16) in Turin, Italy, by defeating Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz by 2 sets to 0. The pair have won eight consecutive victories in the four main tournaments on the calendar and have accumulated 26 individual titles in the last two seasons.
The rivalry between the two tennis players marks the transition from the dominance of the Big Three – Federer, Nadal and Djokovic – to a new era. Alcaraz, 22 years old, ends 2025 as leader of the ATP rankings, while Sinner occupies second place with a wide advantage over third place.

Grand Slam dominance since 2024
Sinner won the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025, the US Open in 2024 and Wimbledon in 2025. Alcaraz won Roland Garros in 2024 and 2025, as well as Wimbledon in 2024 and US Open in 2025. No other tennis player reached the final of these tournaments in the period.
The sequence began after Djokovic’s title at Roland Garros 2023. Since then, only Sinner and Alcaraz have lifted the Majors.
Significant advantage in the world rankings
Alcaraz ends the season as number 1 in the world for the first time. Sinner, even after being suspended for doping during the year, remains in second place. Alexander Zverev appears in third place, but 6,340 points behind the Italian.
The difference between second and third place exceeds the German’s distance to thousandth in the ranking. Elijah Strode, North American, closes the list with 5,145 points ahead of the cutoff.
Balanced rivalry on the court
The two have already decided eight finals, with five victories for Alcaraz and three for Sinner. In the total direct confrontation, the Spaniard has an advantage of 10 to 6. The last decision, at the ATP Finals, went to the Italian.
In all games played, 3,302 points were played. Each tennis player won exactly 1,651 points, demonstrating total balance in the exchange of blows.
Respectful relationship off the court
Sinner and Alcaraz exchange complimentsthe public after the clashes. The Italian highlighted the inspiration he receives from the Spaniard. Alcaraz had already classified his rival as an example of hard work.
The two posed together with the ATP Finals cups. Cordiality contrasts with the intensity of direct duels.
Olympic exception in the period
The Paris 2024 Olympics represented the only major achievement outside the Big Two recently. Novak Djokovic, aged 38, defeated Alcaraz in the final and took gold. The Serbian remains the only active remnant of the former Big Three.
Current hegemony numbers
Sinner has accumulated 14 titles since the start of 2024. Alcaraz has won 12 trophies in the same period. The total of 26 individual achievements easily surpasses the performance of the other tennis players in the top 10 combined in the period.
The 2025 season ends with Alcaraz in the lead and Sinner close behind. The distance to the pursuers reinforces the duo’s dominance on the professional men’s circuit.
