Honda, a Japanese automotive giant, surprised the market by announcing in Tóquio the WN7, its first high-performance electric motorcycle developed specifically for the European continent. Revelada on September 16, 2025, this electric naked represents a milestone in the manufacturer’s strategy for the large electric motorcycle segment, aligning with its ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, with production scheduled to begin at the end of 2025 and the first deliveries scheduled for 2026.
The model, which evolved from the EV Fun concept shown at EICMA 2024, promises to offer a driving experience that combines sustainability and the characteristic emotion of Honda motorcycles. Projetada to be silent, smooth and with zero emissions, the WN7 seeks to rival internal combustion motorcycles in performance, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to innovation and the future of mobility.
Equipped with a fixed lithium-ion battery, the WN7 guarantees a range of more than 130 km, optimized for urban commuting and short and medium-distance trips. Sua convenience is accentuated by compatibility with CCS2 fast charging, which allows the battery to be recharged from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, and a full charge at home, using a 6 kVA charger, in less than three hours.
Innovative design and embedded technology
The WN7 maintains the sleek, minimalist visual appeal of the EV Fun concept, with lines that not only highlight its electric identity but also optimize aerodynamics. The lightweight chassis, with a total weight of 217 kg, has been meticulously designed to offer the balance and stability that are hallmarks of the Honda motorcycles, providing precise handling.
In terms of components, the motorcycle features an inverted Showa SFF-BP front suspension and Nissin brakes with radial calipers, ensuring superior control during cornering and braking. Belt transmission, ideal for electric motors, not only minimizes the need for frequent maintenance, but also maximizes the vehicle’s energy efficiency.
Electric performance and urban agility
The WN7’s performance is one of its most notable points, delivering performance that can be compared to 600cc motorcycles in terms of power and 1000cc models in torque. The 18 kW electric motor (equivalent to 24.5 hp) generates an impressive 100 Nm of torque, which translates into instant acceleration and agile response, characteristics that stand out in electric vehicles.
Despite some debates about direct comparison with 600cc motorcycles in terms of raw power, the WN7’s high torque positions it at a higher level for starts and restarts. Há also has an 11 kW version, aimed at pilots with an A1 license, which maintains the same design and technology, but with power adjusted to comply with European licensing regulations.
The Honda has integrated a sound emission system to alert pedestrians, an essential safety feature for electric vehicles. At 217 kg, the WN7 is considered relatively light for an electric motorcycle, which contributes significantly to its agility and ease of driving both in urban environments and on highways.
Market value and price debate
Honda priced the WN7 at £12,999 at Reino Unido, which translates to approximately €15,200 or R$95,000 at September 2025 prices. Customers who pre-order by November 4, 2025 will be provided with a seat bag as an additional benefit, and production will be centralized at the Honda factory in Atessa, Itália, with the first units arriving at dealerships in early 2026.
The value generated discussions among experts and enthusiasts. Alguns point out that the WN7 can be seen as expensive compared to direct competitors, such as the electric Kawasaki Ninja, which offers similar specifications for a more affordable price. Contudo, Honda’s solid reputation for quality, durability and reliability can justify the investment for a large number of buyers.
Furthermore, tax incentives for electric vehicles, widely available in several European countries, could make the WN7 a more attractive proposition. Essas policies seek to encourage the adoption of more sustainable transport, reducing the final cost for the consumer and boosting competitiveness in the market.
Honda’s decision to manufacture the WN7 at Itália also highlights the importance of the European market for the company’s global strategy, ensuring that the model is aligned with local expectations and regulations. The expectation is that the combination of factors such as design, technology and the brand’s legacy will influence consumers’ purchasing decisions.
Honda electrification strategy
WN7 represents a crucial initial step in Honda’s ambitious electrification strategy for the coming years. The company plans to significantly expand its line of electric motorcycles, which will include everything from practical urban models to high-performance options, reinforcing its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality for its motorcycles by 2040. The launch of the WN7 marks 2024 as the starting year for the brand’s global expansion of electric motorcycles, with an initial strategic focus on the Europa, driven by the continent’s stringent emissions regulations.
The choice of an electric naked for the “Fun” segment reflects Honda’s intention to attract riders who seek the thrill of riding without compromising sustainability. The company invested more than 75 years of motorcycle expertise to develop the WN7, ensuring that it offers the same reliability and riding pleasure that have established iconic models such as the CB1000R. Testes rigorous tests on various European roads were carried out to ensure that the bike meets the expectations of different rider profiles and conditions of use.
Presentation details at EICMA
The full presentation of the WN7 is scheduled for November 4, 2025, during EICMA, at Milão, where Honda is expected to reveal all the detailed technical details of the model. Espera The event is expected to bring accurate information about the exact battery capacity, the maximum achievable speed, as well as a range of accessories, customization options and possible expansion plans into other global markets. EICMA will also be a crucial platform for the Honda to demonstrate the WN7’s positioning in relation to established competitors in the electric motorcycle market, such as the Zero Motorcycles and Super Soco, highlighting its differences and innovations.
Initial receptivity and challenges
The motorcycling community reacted with a mixture of enthusiasm and some reservations to the arrival of the WN7. On forums and social media, the advanced connectivity and futuristic design are often cited as strong points, but the £12,999 price is perceived as a hindrance in an already very competitive segment. Compatibility with CCS2 charging is seen as a significant differentiator, especially compared to some Zero models, which do not yet offer this functionality.
The Honda will face the challenge of attracting traditional pilots, accustomed to combustion engines, to electric technology. However, the WN7, with its proposal to reconcile sustainability and fun, has the potential to captivate both young urban riders and enthusiasts looking for innovations. The brand is banking on its reputation for quality and the growing European charging infrastructure to consolidate the motorcycle in the market.
