This broad coverage demonstrates the brand’s commitment to offering prolonged support, covering devices launched since 2021. The implementation phases prioritize premium models, followed by intermediary and entry-level models.

HyperOS 2 global expansion and innovations

Xiaomi’s strategy with HyperOS 2 focuses on challenging planned obsolescence by extending the useful life of a wide range of devices. The company seeks to strengthen its global position with features that keep its products relevant for longer.

The introduction of HyperAI represents a significant step forward in competing with established virtual assistants. Embora the availability of AI is initially limited to premium models, the expectation is for future expansion to other devices.

Improvements to system interface and performance

HyperOS 2 is designed to provide a more fluid and intuitive user experience, with a revamped interface that features modern icons, smooth animations and dynamic wallpapers. At the heart of the system, HyperCore works to reduce application launch times, optimize energy consumption, extending battery life, and improves graphics performance in demanding games, ensuring stable frame rates.

HyperAI artificial intelligence details

HyperAI emerges as the main differentiator of HyperOS 2, offering artificial intelligence features that promise to revolutionize user interaction. Inicialmente, this advanced suite will be available for high-end models such as the Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra from March 2025.

Among the most notable features are the ability to translate in real time for calls and messages, breaking language barriers instantly. HyperAI also acts as an intelligent writing assistant, helping you write emails and reports with contextual suggestions, and allows you to create personalized wallpapers based on voice or text commands.

Furthermore, artificial intelligence makes it easier to control smart home devices, such as lamps and robotic vacuum cleaners, directly from your smartphone, consolidating a connected and intuitive ecosystem. Private Cloud Compute technology ensures that sensitive data processing occurs locally, reinforcing user privacy. Support for Brazilian Portuguese is scheduled for mid-2025.

Official update schedule

Xiaomi established a phased schedule for the distribution of HyperOS 2, prioritizing the most recent devices and ensuring an organized update. The first wave of devices, which began receiving the system in November 2024, included models such as the Xiaomi 14 and the POCO F6.

By March 2025, the update will be extended to a number of other devices, including the innovative Xiaomi Mix Flip and the popular Redmi Note 14 line. Este initial period focuses on solidifying the system foundation on high-performance devices.

Between the months of April and May, the roll-out will cover slightly older but still widely used models, such as the Xiaomi 12 and the Redmi Note 13, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to the longevity of its installed base.

The final phase, scheduled for June 2025, will include entry-level devices, such as the Redmi 13C and the POCO C75, ensuring that even users with more accessible devices can enjoy the new features of HyperOS 2.

Synergy in the device ecosystem

HyperOS 2 deepens the integration between the various Xiaomi products, solidifying a unified ecosystem where smartphones, tablets, smart watches and even electric vehicles, such as the SU7, operate in perfect synchronization. Essa technology, called HyperConnect, allows for a seamless and interconnected user experience, facilitating the management of notifications and calls via the Xiaomi Watch S4, and the editing of documents on the Xiaomi Pad 7 initiated on the smartphone. Syncing with Windows PCs is a welcome addition, enabling fast file transfers and call control from the desktop, which is especially useful for professionals who switch between devices at work or at home. Essa ecosystem unification positions Xiaomi as a direct competitor to brands like Apple, which already offer similar integration in their products.

Preparations for system installation

To ensure a smooth transition to HyperOS 2, users must prepare their devices. It is essential to have between 4 GB and 6 GB of free storage, depending on the model, and a battery charge greater than 50%. Xiaomi recommends carrying out a complete backup of important data to safeguard information in case of any eventuality during the installation process and check availability in the device settings.

Sustainability and longevity of devices

Xiaomi’s decision to extend updates to models launched up to four years ago, such as the Xiaomi 12, highlights a significant commitment to environmental sustainability. By extending the useful life of smartphones, the company directly contributes to reducing the generation of electronic waste, a global challenge.

The power consumption optimizations present in HyperOS 2 also help reduce users’ carbon footprint, aligning technological innovation with ecological responsibility. Para consumers, this approach translates into substantial savings, as a device updated with HyperOS 2 can remain competitive for longer, postponing the need to purchase a new device and maximizing the return on the initial investment.

Positioning of Xiaomi in the global market

The Xiaomi distinguishes itself in the smartphone market by offering system updates for a wide range of devices, including entry-level models, a practice that is less common among direct competitors such as the Samsung and Apple. The inclusion of devices like the Redmi 13C in the HyperOS 2 update schedule is a strong point for the brand, demonstrating its democratic reach.

However, HyperAI’s initial restriction to premium line devices may generate some frustration among users of intermediate models, who aspire to have access to advanced artificial intelligence features in the future. Xiaomi’s strategy balances scope and innovation, positioning the brand as a competitive option in the global smartphone market.
