The Toyota of the Brasil revealed the new XR version of the Yaris Cross, priced at R$149,990. Essa configuration is positioned as the most accessible option in the brand’s line of compact SUVs and is initially intended for sales to people with disabilities (PWD). The model arrives at dealerships from April, expanding the portfolio that already includes hybrid and combustion variants.
The launch follows a similar strategy to that adopted in Corolla, creating a simplified version to meet specific market demands. The Yaris Cross XR maintains the 1.5 flex aspirated engine with up to 122 hp, combined with a CVT transmission.
This new feature allows the Toyota to compete directly with rivals such as the Honda WR-V, which has a similar starting price.
Engine and performance
The Toyota Yaris Cross XR equips the 1.5 Dual VVT-i 16V DOHC Flex engine with direct injection. Essa unit develops up to 122 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 15.3 kgfm of torque at 4,800 rpm when fueled with ethanol. With gasoline, the numbers adjust slightly, maintaining adequate performance for urban and highway use.
The transmission is a CVT Multidrive, which simulates seven gears to offer smooth shifts. The set prioritizes efficiency and comfort, features valued in the compact SUV segment.
- Maximum power: 122 hp (ethanol) / around 115 hp (gasoline)
- Maximum torque: 15.3 kgfm (ethanol)
- Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h: data not officially released, but estimated at around 11 seconds
- Maximum speed: electronically limited for safety
Consumption and efficiency

These values position the SUV as a balanced option in the segment. Efficiency contributes to reduced operating costs, especially for application or intensive use drivers.
The fuel tank has a standard capacity for the line, allowing ranges of more than 500 km on gasoline in ideal conditions. The Toyota highlights calibration focused on economy without compromising drivability.
Dimensions and internal capacity
The Yaris Cross XR maintains the family’s measurements: 4.31 meters long, 1.77 meters wide, 1.65 meters high and 2.62 meters wheelbase. Essas dimensions guarantee generous internal space for five occupants, with good use in the rear seat.
The trunk offers 400 liters of volume in the combustion versions. The flat floor makes it easier to load larger objects, while the folding seats expand capacity when necessary.
Compared to rivals, the model has a competitive wheelbase, losing just 3 cm to the Honda WR-V. The height from the ground contributes to versatility on uneven floors common in Brazilian cities.
The external design follows the Solid Dynamic concept, with robust lines and a striking presence on the streets.
Standard equipment
The XR version features a list of essential items for everyday life. The Toyota Play 2.0 multimedia center has a 10-inch screen and wireless mirroring for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The controls are integrated into the steering wheel, facilitating safe use.

Advanced assistance items such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping alert and adaptive cruise control have been excluded. Essas absences justify the difference of more than R$ 11 thousand in relation to the old entry version.
The multimedia center and LED headlights remain the same, preserving premium aspects. Simplification focuses on costs without compromising the essentials for the target audience.
Security maintained
The Yaris Cross XR prioritizes protection with six standard airbags: two front, two side and two curtain. Controles stability and traction electronics work in critical situations. Hill start assistant prevents rollbacks on hills.

Comparison with main rival
The Honda WR-V competes directly in the price range and segment. Ambos offer family space and efficiency, but differ in approach. The Yaris Cross XR relies on Toyota reliability and a long warranty.
The WR-V comes with the Sensing package as standard in some versions, with assistance absent in the XR. The rival’s trunk is larger, with around 458 liters.
However, the Toyota stands out in terms of road consumption and wide assistance network. Escolha depends on priorities such as technology or durability.
Other competitors such as Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks operate in similar ranges, but with different proposals.
