The GWM Haval H6 HEV consolidated its position in the national automotive market by becoming the hybrid SUV with the highest number of registrations in the The model stands out in an increasingly competitive segment, attracting consumers looking for a combination of energy efficiency and embedded technology.

To verify in practice the attributes that justify its commercial success, the HEV2 entry-level version, with a starting price of R$223,000, was subjected to a long-term evaluation. Durante one month, the vehicle was used in various urban and highway traffic conditions, allowing an in-depth analysis of its mechanical and design updates, which were implemented for the latest range.

The test revealed that the changes promoted by GWM were assertive, addressing specific points that improve the driving experience and comfort on board. The changes range from the recalibration of crucial suspension and brake components to refinements in the interior finish and multimedia system, demonstrating the manufacturer’s attention to the demands of the Brazilian consumer.

The main mechanical innovations

The heart of the Haval H6 HEV is its powertrain, which combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with an electric propellant, delivering a combined power of 243 hp and a robust torque of 55 kgfm. In the updated line, the combustion engine, which alone generates 150 hp and 24.4 kgfm, received significant technical improvements. The main new feature is the inclusion of a water-cooled intercooler and a variable oil pump. Essas technologies optimize engine temperature control and improve lubrication, resulting in greater efficiency and durability of the assembly, especially under high workloads or in hotter climates, such as that found in much of the country.

Another fundamental change occurred in the braking system, which now uses electronic actuators. Essa change represents an improvement over the previous system, providing more precise modulation and faster responses in emergency braking situations. The suspension was also revised, receiving firmer stops. Essa recalibration noticeably reduced body oscillations during curves and quick maneuvers, giving the SUV superior stability and a feeling of greater control and safety behind the wheel, without significantly compromising comfort on uneven surfaces.

Performance and drivability in everyday use

Driving experience of the Haval H6 HEV during the evaluation period confirmed the effectiveness of the updates. The two-speed automated transmission, known as DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission), intelligently manages the transition between electric, hybrid and combustion propulsion modes, ensuring smooth and practically imperceptible changes. In an urban environment, the system prioritizes the electric motor at low speeds and in heavy traffic situations, which results in silent operation and, above all, fuel savings. The 1.6 kWh battery, which does not require external recharging, is powered by the combustion engine itself and by energy regeneration during braking, guaranteeing electric autonomy for short journeys. On the road, the SUV demonstrates its vigor, with progressive acceleration and agile responses when overtaking, thanks to the instantaneous torque of the electric motor added to the strength of the turbo engine. The feeling is of a vehicle always ready to deliver performance when requested, making trips safer and more pleasurable.

Changes to the external design

The most recent line of Haval H6 HEV brought a subtle restyling, but which modernized its appearance. The main change is at the front, which received a larger trapezoidal grille.

This new grille design, combined with LED strips that descend from the main headlights, gives the SUV a more imposing presence and in line with global trends in automotive design.

At the rear, the look was maintained, with the headlights linked by an illuminated LED bar that spans the entire 560-liter trunk lid, an element that was already well accepted by the public.

Renovated interior for greater comfort

The H6 HEV’s cabin was one of the areas that received the most attention in the improvements. The multifunctional steering wheel has been completely redesigned, now with two spokes and a thicker rim, improving ergonomics and handling.

The multimedia center, with a 14.6-inch screen, now runs the new Coffee OS operating system, which offers a faster, more intuitive and customizable interface.

Connectivity has also been improved, with wireless pairing for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, eliminating the need for cables to use smartphone applications.

Furthermore, the induction cell phone charger was upgraded to 50W, ensuring faster recharges, and the center console gained new cup holders, more practical for daily use.

Fuel efficiency in focus

During the test, fuel consumption proved to be one of the model’s strong points. The intelligent hybrid system optimizes the use of engines to record consistent averages both in the city and on the highway.

The ability to run in purely electric mode in low-speed situations directly contributes to reducing urban consumption, an important benefit for heavy traffic in large cities.

Technology and security package

The HEV2 version is already equipped as standard with a robust driving assistance package (ADAS). Entre available features include automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control (ACC) and blind spot monitoring, as well as cameras that provide a 360-degree view, facilitating maneuvers in tight spaces.

Prominent position in the national market

The leadership of the Haval H6 in the hybrid segment in 2025 is not an isolated feat. The model surpassed direct and consolidated competitors, such as the BYD Song Plus and the Toyota Corolla Cross, reflecting GWM’s successful strategy in terms of price, product and network expansion.

The brand has invested in expanding its dealerships and in structured after-sales, factors that increase consumer confidence. Specific updates, such as those validated in this test, keep the SUV competitive and attractive, ensuring its relevance in a constantly evolving market.
