Polícia Nacional of Turquia launched a major operation last Friday, February 13, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals involved in an adult content production network. The investigations took place simultaneously in Istambul and in six other strategic locations, including Ancara, Antália and Samsun. The group is suspected of circumventing digital blocks to operate on platforms banned by the Turkish government since mid-2023.

The action is part of an ongoing effort by the government to suppress material deemed incompatible with public morals and local family structure. Além of the arrests made, authorities carried out search and seizure warrants that revealed a complex financial movement system. Researchers are now focusing on identifying other collaborators who may be facilitating the transmission of this content to internal and external audiences.

  • Cities affected by the operation: Istambul, Adana, Ancara, Antália, Edremit, Gölçuk and
  • Main charges: Obscenidade, money laundering and breach of digital locks.
  • Seized goods: Imóveis luxury items, high-value vehicles, gold and cryptocurrency accounts.
  • Status of investigations: Dezessete arrests made and four influencers on the run abroad.

Famous models and digital influencers are in the crosshairs of justice

Four widely known influencers in the Turkish digital scene, identified as Merve Taskın, Gizem Bagdacicek, Burcin Erol and Serpil Cansiz, are the main targets who remain at large. Embora the arrest warrants were issued, the police confirmed that the quartet was not located in national territory during the raids. Há strong indications that the models left the country before the start of the police operation, possibly after receiving alerts about the ongoing investigation.

These women are described by authorities as central figures in the scheme to disseminate adult material, using their fame to attract subscribers and investors. The police work under the assumption that they are operating from other European countries or from Oriente Médio to avoid Turkish jurisdiction. The extradition process or the issuance of international alerts via Interpol are being evaluated by the magistrates responsible for the criminal case.

OnlyFans blocking and use of technologies to circumvent restrictions

Access to the OnlyFans platform was formally banned on Turquia in June 2023, following court decisions that classified the site as harmful to social values. However, the investigation revealed that content producers continued to use the service by changing IP addresses and using virtual private networks. Esta practice allowed models to keep their subscriber bases active, posting daily and receiving international payments in a camouflaged way.

In addition to the subscription website, the messaging application Telegram was also cited in investigations as an essential tool for distributing materials. The closed groups served as a bridge for direct financial transactions, far from the supervision of Turquia communication regulatory bodies. Polícia Nacional highlighted that monitoring data traffic was essential in locating the points of origin of illegal transmissions within Turkish cities.

The use of altered IPs is considered an aggravating factor in the process, as it demonstrates the deliberate intention to violate the country’s cybersecurity laws. Especialistas in digital crimes were summoned to analyze the seized devices and track the connection route used by the detainees. The expectation is that the data extracted will reveal an even larger network of users and collaborators who finance these prohibited activities.

Money laundering and financial movements in crypto assets

Investigators discovered that the amounts obtained from the sale of obscene content did not just circulate in traditional bank accounts. The gang used the profit to acquire movable and real estate assets, in addition to making heavy investments in gold and bitcoins to make state tracking difficult. Durante inspections, authorities confirmed the confiscation of 14 vehicles and 10 properties linked to the names of those being investigated or shell companies.

Two companies suspected of serving as channels for money laundering had around 300 million Turkish lira blocked in their accounts. Este amount, equivalent to approximately 36 million reais, demonstrates the high profitable potential of illegal activity in the clandestine market. Fixed-term deposit accounts were also frozen as part of precautionary measures to ensure reimbursement and the imposition of future fines.

  • Confiscation of 300 million Turkish liras in business accounts.
  • Monitoring of gold investments and long-term bank deposits.
  • Tracking transactions in bitcoin and other digital currencies.
  • Identification of oranges used to purchase 10 residential properties.

Operational structure and repression of crimes against morality

The scheme was operated by a technical team that guaranteed the quality of production and the security of financial transactions for the models. Entre Among the 17 prisoners, there are photographers, video editors and digital traffic managers who provided logistical support for the influencers’ activities. The police claim that the structure was professional and operated as a talent agency focused exclusively on the prohibited adult market.

The legislation of Turquia is strict regarding the production and distribution of materials that violate the ethical precepts established by Estado. Ministério of Interior reiterated that operations like this will continue to occur to ensure compliance with public decency laws. The focus is not just to punish those who appear in the images, but to dismantle all the financial and technological support that allows this market to survive in the country.

Local authorities believe that the arrest of the technical operators will permanently dismantle the original group’s production capacity. Sem the support of IT specialists to bypass IP blocks, the commercial viability of content drops drastically for local producers. The government also plans to intensify oversight of cryptocurrency brokers operating on Turquia to prevent them from being used in the same modus operandi.

Legal consequences and the fate of those involved in the operation

Those detained will face a series of crimes that can result in severe prison sentences and definitive loss of property. Turkish justice has already started analyzing the seized materials, which include computers, smartphones and external hard drives with thousands of media files. Models abroad run the risk of having their passports canceled and remaining assets on Turkish soil auctioned off to the Estado.

The operation serves as a warning to other content creators who are still trying to operate underground within the borders of Turquia. The use of social media to promote these services is also under constant monitoring by cyber intelligence agencies. As investigations progress, new warrants may be issued in other provinces, expanding the scope of the fight against pornography and money laundering in the Asian-European country.

Turkish society has been following the case closely, as it involves public figures with wide reach on social media. Transparency in financial data revealed by police seeks to reinforce the narrative that organized crime was behind the production of adult entertainment. The outcome of this case will set an important precedent for internet regulation and the enforcement of morality laws in the era of global subscription platforms.
