Romanian manufacturer Dacia has officially presented a mechanical innovation aimed at redefining efficiency standards in the SUV segment. The new propulsion architecture integrates lightweight electrification and alternative fuel to offer a range rarely seen in today’s automotive market, prioritizing versatility without relying exclusively on external charging infrastructure.

Technical details of the Hybrid 150 engine

The mechanical package, called Hybrid 150, is driven by a 1.2 turbo gasoline block capable of generating 140 horsepower. Operation is optimized by a 48V electrical system that provides both acceleration assistance and energy recovery during braking, ensuring that the combustion engine operates in more efficient speed ranges.

Power transmission is managed by a six-speed dual-clutch automated gearbox, designed to smooth shifts in urban environments and reduce consumption on highways.

An important difference is the electronic management of the rear axle, which eliminates the need for a physical cardan for all-wheel drive. Sensores monitor grip and activate the electric support on the rear wheels only when necessary, reducing the vehicle’s total weight and mechanical losses due to friction, which results in more agile vehicle dynamics.

Extended autonomy and gas integration

The great autonomy advertised by the brand is the result of the strategic fusion between hybrid technology and the vehicle’s bi-fuel capacity. The system was designed to operate with two different tanks, maximizing the distance covered before any refueling.

  • Combination of gasoline and LPG tanks allows it to travel up to 1,500 km without stopping.
  • Electric mode can cover up to 60% of the usage time on dense urban routes.
  • CO2 emissions have been significantly reduced to meet stringent Euro 7 standards.
  • 4×4 traction on demand guarantees safety on difficult terrain without penalizing consumption on asphalt.

This configuration keeps the trunk volume unchanged, as the reservoirs are installed in strategic locations on the chassis, preserving internal habitability.

Market and launch strategy

The introduction of this powertrain marks the company’s strategic positioning to offer robust and economical vehicles, focused on families who undertake long trips and require real off-road capability. The technology aims to maintain price accessibility, a characteristic of the brand, while increasing the level of technical sophistication of top-of-the-line products.

Orders for models equipped with the Hybrid 150 4×4 system are expected to open at the end of 2026, with the first deliveries scheduled for the beginning of the following year.
