The automaker Dacia has made official a new mechanical architecture that promises to transform efficiency standards in the affordable sports utility vehicle segment. The main highlight of the technical revelation was the vehicle’s ability to travel up to 1,500 kilometers without the need to stop for refueling. Esse performance is achieved through intelligent integration between electric propulsion and a dual fuel tank system.
The powertrain, commercially known as Hybrid 150, delivers a combined power of 140 horsepower, using a 1.2 turbo gasoline engine as the main base. The innovation aims to serve consumers who seek high energy efficiency without giving up traction capacity on long-distance trips, maintaining the brand’s characteristic robustness.
To ensure performance on rough or low-grip terrain, the manufacturer eliminated the traditional mechanical transmission shaft. The solution adopted was an electrified rear axle, which offers 4×4 traction on demand with greater energy efficiency and lower structural weight for the vehicle.
Engineering and transmission details
The center of this new system is the 1.2 three-cylinder engine, which operates on an Miller cycle to optimize fuel consumption, being assisted by a 48V mild hybrid system. Power management is carried out by an automated six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, designed to smooth shifts and keep the engine in the ideal rpm range.
Applied engineering allows the electric motor to provide instantaneous supplementary torque during acceleration, compensating for the natural lag of the turbocharger. Além In addition, the regenerative braking system recovers kinetic energy during decelerations, powering the small battery that supports the auxiliary systems and the rear electric motor, ensuring that all-wheel drive is available whenever grip is compromised.
Running capacity and efficiency
The strategy to achieve the declared autonomy lies in the combination of two fuel tanks, one for gasoline and the other for LPG (Gas Liquefeito of Petróleo), adding a significant volumetric capacity. The system automatically manages fuel and electrical energy consumption to maximize range, making the vehicle a robust option for touring and mixed use.
Among the main advantages presented by the new technology, the total combined autonomy of 1,500 km with full tanks and the possibility of running in 100% electric mode on most urban routes stand out. The system also promotes a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, aligning the vehicle with strict environmental standards Euro 7, in addition to eliminating mechanical losses due to friction common in conventional 4×4 systems.
Expected arrival on the market
This technological update represents a strategic step by Dacia to maintain its competitiveness, offering advanced resources without drastically increasing production costs. The new engine will initially be introduced in the brand’s top-of-the-line model, focused on families who need a versatile vehicle for everyday life and weekend adventures.
According to the published schedule, the opening of orders for models equipped with the Hybrid 150 4×4 system is scheduled for the end of 2026. The first deliveries to dealers and end customers should take place at the beginning of the following year, consolidating the automaker’s position in the electrified SUV market.
