Corinthians ended the 2025 financial year with a deficit of R$143.441 million. The data appears in the official balance sheet sent this Monday (22) to the club’s supervisory bodies. The document details that the institution’s total gross debt reached the level of R$2.723 billion. The amount encompasses both the obligations of the social and football club and the financing commitments of Neo Química Arena.

Net operating revenue for the period totaled R$810.126 million, an amount insufficient to cover operating expenses, which reached R$885.354 million. The positive operating result of R$13.938 million was guaranteed only by the transfer of federative rights in athlete sales. Contudo, after deductions for depreciation, amortization and non-operating charges, the balance sheet consolidated the negative balance of R$143.4 million.

Composição details of black and white debt

The structure of Corinthians’ liabilities presents clear divisions between day-to-day obligations and the stadium’s real estate financing in Itaquera. The club managed to contain the acceleration of debt growth in the final months of last year. Atualmente, liabilities are distributed as follows:

  • Dívida direct from the club: R$2.081 billion
  • Financiamento from Neo Química Arena: R$642 million
  • Total accumulated gross: R$ 2.723 billion
  • Desconto obtained with União: R$ 127 million (estimated impact)

Embora the total number is high, the board recorded a slight reduction compared to the R$ 2.8 billion recorded until November 2025. The variation arises from accounting maneuvers and strategic renegotiations of deadlines. The current management seeks to stabilize cash flow to avoid new legal blockages. The collective payment plan with Câmara Nacional of Resolução of Disputas (CNRD) was cited as a facilitator for organizing these pending issues.

Acordo with União and tax renegotiation

One of the central points for maintaining financial viability was the tax transaction signed with Procuradoria-Geral da Fazenda Nacional. Corinthians had a pending issue with União that exceeded the R$1.2 billion mark before negotiations. Através of the agreement, the club guaranteed a discount of 46.6% on the total amount.

The agreement provides for the payment of R$679 million in installments, relieving the pressure on Parque São Jorge’s immediate accounts. Esse move significantly improved the debt profile, transforming short-term debts into long-term commitments. Sem this intervention, total liabilities could have surpassed the R$3 billion barrier in the first quarter of this year. The tax transaction is seen internally as the biggest administrative advance of the last two years.

Mudanças in balance sheet management and approval

The year 2025 was marked by extreme political instability at Corinthians, which had a direct impact on account control. Augusto Melo started his term, but ended up permanently removed in August after an impeachment process. Osmar Stabile assumed the presidency and conducted the closing of the annual balance sheet after being confirmed in the position by Conselho Deliberativo.

The financial document now needs to go through the statutory approval process by the end of April. Ele will be subjected to analysis by Conselho Fiscal and Conselho of Orientação (Cori) before final voting. Além of the 2025 deficit, the balance sheet included R$205.541 million of accumulated losses from previous years in equity. Este accounting adjustment aims to provide real transparency on the size of the financial hole inherited by past administrations.

Perspectiva for the 2026 season

Apesar of the worrying numbers, the Corinthians leadership projects a more predictable scenario for the coming months. The focus is on maintaining high revenues from broadcasting rights and sponsorships to reduce debt interest. The sale of players trained at the base continues to be the main escape valve to balance the operational deficit.

The board reinforces that cost containment on the cast will be necessary to comply with the payment schedule agreed with creditors. The balance serves as a warning about the need for fiscal rigor, especially given the interest rates charged on financing the arena. Só in 2025, financial costs consumed a considerable portion of what was collected from box office and loyalty programs. The club hopes that Stabile’s continuation in the role will bring the administrative stability necessary to attract new investors.
