The Coalition, the studio behind Gears of War, is giving every player of Gears of War: E-Day the RAAM character for free on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the franchise’s 20th anniversary. Players only need to enter the game to claim it.
The studio also announced that the next multiplayer season, called Legacy, starts on December 1, 2026. The anniversary celebration itself runs for two weeks and includes limited-time modes and new rewards.
Two weeks of limited-time modes on Versus and Horde
The celebration takes place in Gears of War: E-Day, the game that launched worldwide on October 6, 2026, according to the Xbox Games France announcement. The Coalition said the event offers modes available for a limited time and rewards that players can unlock during the period.

In Versus, the event features Guardian, a mode in which only one leader survives. In Horde, players can try For the Queen, in which the supply depot is disabled, leaving the squad with only the equipment it brought into the match.
RAAM for every player on November 7
According to The Coalition, the RAAM character will be available for the multiplayer of Gears of War: E-Day for all players at no cost. The studio said the character can be redeemed as soon as the player enters the game.

The studio did not say at what time on November 7 the character becomes available.
Season 2 Legacy brings back classic elements on December 1
The Coalition said Season 2, Legacy, starts on December 1, 2026, and returns to the multiplayer maps, modes and visuals linked to the franchise’s 20 years. The studio said the season brings back favorites from fans throughout the series’ history and reimagines some characters.
One of the reimagined characters is Dom, who receives the Solemn Memories skin. The look shows him wearing the suit from the well-known photo with Maria in Gears of War 2.
Gears of War: the franchise’s history and its 20 years
Gears of War reached the Xbox 360 on November 7, 2006, introducing Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, and the series now marks two decades. In a message published by the studio, The Coalition said the franchise has grown since then with new games, new characters, new enemies and millions of players. The company said it values the relationships built around the series more than the games or stories alone.
The studio also said it heard stories from fans over the years, including friendships that began in multiplayer rooms, families playing campaigns together, groups that held weekly Horde sessions, and couples who met through the game. The message cited fans who said Gears helped them through difficult moments, such as a loss or a sense of isolation.
