Lançamento on PS5 came almost four years after its original debut

Forza Horizon 5 debuted in November 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. At the time, the title already had open world mechanics in locations inspired by México, with an emphasis on arcade racing and free exploration.

Quando arrived on the PS5, the game was almost four years old. Mesmo thus, the accumulated player base on other platforms facilitated reception. In August 2025, total players across all platforms exceeded 50 million.

The PlayStation 5 version maintained the main features of the original. Users were able to enjoy the vast map, seasonal events, and extensive vehicle customization. The port has also benefited from updates released over the years.

Analistas highlight revenue generated by Sony console version

Dados market reports indicate that PS5 sales generated more than $300 million in revenue for Microsoft. The number came from estimates by Alinea Analytics and was reflected after the release of Virtuos.

The result places Forza Horizon 5 as a success story among game ports that were previously associated with the Xbox ecosystem. The title surpassed, at certain times in 2025, Sony’s first-party releases in sales volume on the platform.

The broad appeal of the open-ended racing genre helped. Forza Horizon 5 offers options for different play styles, from serious competitions to casual exploration activities.

Comparação with other titles Xbox on PS5 shows performance variation

Sea of Thieves accumulated around 1.8 million copies sold on the same platform. The number is considered solid for a multiplayer pirate game, but is below the level reached by Forza Horizon 5.

Já o Starfield had a more modest debut in the first week on PS5, with estimates around 140 thousand units. Analistas relate performance to the space RPG’s more niche profile and the time elapsed since the original launch.

Esses examples illustrate different patterns. Jogos with accessible mechanics and a focus on short sessions tend to convert the PlayStation audience better. Títulos with a steeper learning curve or emphasis on long-form narrative face greater challenges.
