Zeze, who studied at Universidade of Kyoto, commented on its relationship with the Kansai region. Ele mentioned having taken the entrance exam for Universidade of Osaka and spent a year studying in the city. The director also explained the choice of locations in Nara. The original story mentions a somen factory, which led the team to film in Sakurai, Nara province.
Diretor highlights the evolution of the main actress
Takahisa Zeze recalled the previous work with Yuna Kuroshima in the Crônicas movie of an Estranho. At the time, she was a high school student who had arrived from Okinawa. Ele described her as very photogenic. Agora, almost ten years later, the director noticed her growth reflected in her new role.
Kuroshima responded that, in the first collaboration, she was just starting her career and had little experience. Desta once again wanted to show how much he had evolved so as not to disappoint the director. Ela spoke about the character Mai as an unprecedented role in his career. The actress felt the character’s strong desire to help others and support those in need, even in a time of more fragile connections.
Bastidores reveal filming details on Nara
Recordings on Nara included many racing scenes. Kuroshima commented that it was physically demanding, but the air in the region, different from that of Tóquio, made up for the effort. Ela highlighted the wide sky and the feeling of taking a deep breath in the place. The director confirmed that the city’s ancient urban landscape gave strength to the actors.
The author Kanae Minato reacted to the location choice with the phrase “It’s not the place I imagined”. Zeze recounted the episode with humor and said that it makes the process interesting. The team remained faithful to the spirit of the work even with the visual adaptations.
Elenco and launch mark expectations
The film hits Japanese cinemas on May 8. The production addresses feelings of protection and mutual support amid everyday difficulties. Kuroshima reinforced the importance of looking not only at yourself, but also at others. Segundo she, the present builds the future through human relationships.
The event at Kadoma served to bring the public closer to the creative team just before the premiere. Light Conversas marked the meeting, such as the advice given to Kuroshima to try toncho, Osaka’s typical glutinous rice dish. Ela smiled and said he would taste it later after the show.
Escolha of leases strengthens connection with Kansai
Zeze chose to film on Sakurai without consulting the author first. The decision came from the association between somen and the Miwa region. The preservation of the ancient everyday atmosphere helped to give authenticity to the interpretations. The team valued the contrast between the calm setting and the heavy themes of the plot.
Kuroshima also mentioned the impact of working with Zeze again. The partnership allowed us to explore different layers of the character, based on past experiences of pain and desire for support. The director noted that her maturity enriched the scenes.
The production maintains the focus on the central mystery of the novel. Cartas and invisible voices guide the narrative. The secondary cast complements the protagonist’s journey with performances that reinforce the emotional weight of relationships.
