As Forças Armadas of Ucrânia received Finnish-made Sisu GTP 4×4 armored vehicles for operations from the 8th Regimento of Forças of Operações Especiais. The information was released on April 27 by Andriy Charuk, a defense specialist, who documented the arrival of the first examples into service. Embora the exact number of units delivered remains unknown, photographic records confirm at least two different vehicles in operational use.

Receipt occurs without official announcement of donation by Finlândia or Suécia, the only known operators of this platform until then. The transfer marks an unusual step in the history of the equipment, still in limited production by the two Scandinavian countries, with orders expected until the end of 2028.

Características technical and operational capabilities

The Sisu GTP 4×4 functions as a modular armored vehicle weighing up to 14 tons, allowing a payload of five tons. The manufacturer remains confidential about the exact level of armor, but has confirmed fully modular ballistic and anti-mine protection systems, offering flexibility in configuration depending on the mission.

Equipado with a 221 kW diesel engine producing 300 horsepower, the vehicle exceeds 100 km/h on paved roads. Sua autonomy exceeds 700 kilometers on the road, allowing long-range operations in different scenarios. The platform supports different configurations:

  • Armored Patrol Veículos
  • Staff Transporte
  • Ambulâncias armored
  • Veículos command
  • Plataformas for weapons (machine guns in rotating turret or remotely controlled system)

Relevância strategic for special operations

Poucos users have adopted the Sisu GTP 4×4 globally, making the arrival of the Ucrânia particularly significant for operational evaluation of the equipment. The limited number of units delivered to the Ukrainians allows for real combat testing, generating valuable data during the future development of the project.

The exact number of vehicles transferred remains classified. Estimativas indicate that the combined orders of Finlândia and Suécia do not exceed 400 units throughout the contract period. The presence of these armored vehicles in Ukrainian special operations offers a rare opportunity to validate the platform in intense combat scenarios.

Componentes and operating cost

The Sisu GTP design utilizes an extensive variety of off-the-shelf standardized components, particularly from Daimler AG. Essa strategy reduces production costs and facilitates maintenance in the field, taking advantage of parts available in global markets. Fabricantes and military analysts expect that both production and operation will result in relatively low costs compared to other armored vehicles with similar characteristics.

The modularity of the system allows quick adaptation according to the specific needs of each Ukrainian unit. Critical Componentes can be replaced with compatible versions from other manufacturers, minimizing dependence on proprietary supplies.
