Rockstar Games says the physical edition of GTA 6 will not include a disc. The box holds a download code instead, and the company’s support pages now describe the format that way.
According to Rockstar’s support material, the boxed copy reaches retailers starting November 12, 2026, for shipping or store pickup. The purpose is pre-loading, since buyers redeem the code and start the download before the game unlocks on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The install is up to 212 GB, depending on the device.
Support email had pointed to physical copies in the coming months
A support email sent to players who asked about the physical format said the pre-order at that point covered only a digital update. It added that a physical copy would be available “during the following months.” The message never used the word “disc.”
The pre-order bonuses had drawn strong enthusiasm before the format drew criticism. Many buyers said they were frustrated to learn the box would have no disc. The wording left open whether the physical copy would come before or after the launch, and the message could have been automated.
Rockstar’s platform and edition page lists the game in digital and physical versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced. Retailer listings report a price of US$ 79,99 for the Standard Edition and US$ 99,99 for the Ultimate Edition, which is sold only in digital form. Digital pre-loading opens on November 10, 2026, two days before boxed copies reach buyers.
Leaker Graczdari says a disc version could follow in December
A report from Poland claims that a disc version of GTA 6 will arrive in December 2026. The report cites the insider Graczdari and says the code-in-box copies are only the first production run. It adds that a disc edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X would follow in December.
The insider’s credibility rests on a prior call. In March 2026, Graczdari said GTA 6 would launch without a physical disc, a claim that was widely dismissed at the time. Rockstar later confirmed the code-in-box format, which gave that early prediction more weight.
Even so, the insider’s overall record is described as uneven, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has officially confirmed a December disc release. The first boxed copies reach buyers on November 12, 2026, and the game unlocks on November 19, 2026.
