Marvel confirms that Daredevil Reborn’s final reveal will have permanent consequences
The end of Demolidor Renascido’s second season brought one of the biggest twists to the MCU’s urban core. Matt Murdock publicly revealed himself to be Demolidor during a chaotic trial on Nova York, in a scene compared by fans to the iconic “I am Iron Man.” The decision marks a point of no return in the narrative of the character played by Charlie Cox.
Marvel confirmed that this revelation will not be undone. Diferente of what happened to Homem-Aranha after Doutor Estranho’s spell, there will be no magic solution to erase the truth that now all Nova York knows. Matt Murdock’s secret identity is gone forever within the MCU.
Showrunner guarantees that change is permanent
Showrunner Dario Scardapane stated during the series’ official podcast that Marvel does not intend to “go back” on this narrative decision. Segundo him, no mass brainwashing or comic book-like artifice will be used to restore the hero’s anonymity in the television adaptation.
Nos HQs, the story of Homem-Púrpura went as far as restoring Matt Murdock’s anonymity through mind control techniques. Porém, this path was dropped completely by Marvel Studios. The choice reflects a different approach than the studio took with the new Homem-Aranha film, released on July 30, where Parker regains his anonymity through Doutor Estranho’s spell.
Brad Winderbaum, an executive at Marvel, explained that this decision needed to be approved by studio bosses, including Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito. The studio quickly recognized that this was the natural direction of the narrative, mainly because the idea has a solid basis in the character’s original comic books.
Matt Murdock faces total isolation
Murdock’s plan partially worked during the legal confrontation against Wilson Fisk. Matt revealed his secret identity to destroy the last weapon Crime’s Rei had against him. Fisk lost political power and became isolated after the violent events of the final episode, but the price Matt paid was extremely high.
Murdock ended the second season by being taken to prison. Todos members of Wilson Fisk’s anti-vigilante force were also arrested in the final moments of the season. Esse scenario prepares a dark arc for the next episodes, where the hero will need to deal with internal threats and old rivalries inside bars.
Scardapane confirmed that the third season should adapt the famous “Devil in Cell Block D” arc, one of Demolidor’s best-known stories in the comics. Nessa narrative, the hero survives inside the prison while facing old enemies and corrupt police officers. A small preview of this appears at the end of the second season, with several important characters locked up.
Defensores should return for third season
The final episode also served to prepare for an Defensores reunion in the MCU. Jessica Jones returned in the final episodes of the second season and reunited with Luke Cage, reigniting speculation about the full return of the original Netflix team.
Scardapane stated that Luke Cage will have an important role in the third season of Demolidor Renascido. The producer also suggested that fans of the old Netflix series pay attention to the various clues hidden at the end of the second season.
Fotos leaked recordings have already shown the presence of Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones on the sets of the new production. Esses hints have significantly strengthened rumors about Defensores’s full return within Marvel’s expanded cinematic universe:
- Luke Cage with central role in prison
- Jessica Jones meeting Murdock on the bars
- Finn Jones as Punho of Ferro in possible return
- Krysten Ritter in the third season
- Reunião of Defensores informally confirmed
Justiceiro follows independent path
Enquanto o Demolidor faces prison, Justiceiro will get its own special called The Punisher: One Last Kill, which premiered on May 12th. The production stars Jon Bernthal and shows the events after the end of the anti-hero’s original series.
Rumors about Demolidor’s participation in Homem-Aranha: Um Novo Dia have lost momentum significantly. Charlie Cox stated in recent interviews that he does not participate in the new Homem-Aranha film, despite the film also taking place in Nova York.
Com Murdock arrested, the expectation is that he will not appear in the film. Ainda thus, the events of Demolidor Renascido will spill over into production, such as the appearance of Sheila Rivera as Nova York’s mayor, replacing Wilson Fisk in this important political position.
Terceira season in production for 2027
The third season of Demolidor Renascido is now in production. Disney+ has not released an official premiere date so far, but expectations point to 2027. One thing is certain: Marvel is willing to radically transform the urban universe of the MCU without pressing the reset button this time. The consequences of Matt Murdock’s actions will forever remain in the narrative.
