Spotify expands AI-powered DJ to 75 countries and adds four new languages
Spotify today expanded the reach of its AI-powered personal DJ to Premium users in over 75 countries. The platform also activated support for four new languages: French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese.
Novos DJ languages and characters
The feature comes with personalized DJs for each language. Maïa serves users in French, Ben in German, Alex in Italian and Dani in Brazilian Portuguese. Cada DJ maintains the same music recommendation functionality, but adapted to local pronunciation and linguistic context.
The language expansion follows the pattern established in October last year, when Spotify added support for Spanish. At the same time, the company also released the typed requests feature, expanding beyond voice-only interactions.

Geographic availability now includes:
- Áustria
- Brazil
- França
- Alemanha
- Itália
- Portugal
- Coreia from Sul
- Suíça
Esses eight countries represent strategic markets for the platform in different regions of the world. Brasil and Portugal expand the service’s presence on América Latina and Europa Ibérica, respectively.

The feature uses the user’s listening history to create personalized music selections. The DJ combines tracks you frequently listen to, old songs that have fallen by the wayside, and recent releases to keep the playlist always up to date. DJ’s occasional Comentários round out the experience.

Premium users can access the feature by searching for “DJ” in the search field or clicking on the option available on the home page. DJ accepts a variety of natural language commands, from general requests to context-based instructions. Você can request music for a specific mood, specific activity or even to set the mood for a special moment.
The system processes both voice and typed requests, offering interaction flexibility according to the user’s preference. AI interprets broad intentions and provides recommendations consistent with what was requested.

Personal DJ remains exclusive to Premium subscribers of Spotify. Usuários on free plans do not have access to the feature. The functionality is available in mobile applications and the web version of the platform, allowing continuous access across different devices.
Integration with the standard Spotify interface ensures that no additional installation is required. Eligible Usuários already find the feature activated in their accounts as soon as they access the platform.
