Apple released this Monday the fourth beta versions of iOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4 for developers enrolled in the program. The official launch of the updates is scheduled for the end of March or beginning of April, according to the company’s traditional schedule. The new betas bring functional refinements, new emojis aligned with the Emoji 17.0 standard and improvements in accessibility, as well as new wallpapers for the macOS system.

Emojis Emoji 17.0 arrives on iOS 18.4

iOS 18.4 beta 4 incorporates characters from the Emoji 17.0 standard, announced by Unicode Consortium the previous year. Entre the new emojis are representations such as distorted face, fight cloud, killer whale, trombone, treasure chest, Pé Grande and landslide. Esses characters significantly expand visual expression options in messages, social networks and compatible applications.

The adoption comes months after the launch of the international standard. Apple often implements new emojis in spring updates, ensuring broad compatibility across your devices. Developers and beta users can immediately access the updated characters on supported keyboards and apps.

Improved Acessibilidade and usability

In iOS 18.4, the option previously called Reduced Highlighting Effects has been renamed to Reduce Bright Effects. The change aims for greater clarity in the description of the functionality, which reduces intense visual effects for users sensitive to brightness or animations. The feature is part of the accessibility settings and helps minimize visual discomfort in dynamic interfaces.

The Medida application received a dedicated toggle to switch between metric and imperial systems directly in the settings. Usuários can change preferences without depending on the device’s regional settings, facilitating use in international or professional contexts that require specific measures.

Novidades in health and fitness apps

  • Aplicativo Exercício has improved sharing messages to send fitness updates with more formatting options.
  • Integração social allows users to share data with family or friend groups.
  • Sincronização data between iPhone, Apple Watch and other devices in the Apple ecosystem.

The Exercício application maintains a focus on social integration and encourages interactions between users. The features integrate with the Apple health ecosystem, enabling complete tracking of physical activity and wellness metrics.

Unreleased Wallpapers on macOS Sequoia 15.4

macOS Sequoia 15.4 beta 4 adds wallpapers inspired by the MacBook Neo, available in four color variations: purple, blue, pink and yellow. Esses backgrounds bring modern, minimalist design, optimized for Retina screens. The images are accessible in the system’s wallpaper settings and complement the clean look introduced in recent versions of macOS.

Final Otimizações before release

The fourth betas include internal fixes and performance optimizations, common in this testing phase. Apple prioritizes stability before final release, resolving bugs reported by developers. Usuários’s public beta program will also receive access to the same versions soon. The recommendation is to install on secondary devices due to the experimental nature of the software.
