The average resale price of the cheapest Copa group stage ticket from Mundo has dropped significantly over the last month. Segundo data from TicketData, the value decreased from about $730 on April 20 to $560 on May 20 — a 23% drop. The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11th, with matches on Estados Unidos, México and Canadá.

Keith Pagello, founder of TicketData, explained the reason for this reduction. “Prices are falling because there are not enough purchases at the moment to sustain the current sky-high prices,” Pagello said in an interview with NBC News.

Lançamento Continuous Ticketing Reduces Price Pressure

FIFA has adopted a strategy of releasing tickets in waves since pre-sales began in September 2025. Algumas of sales were planned, while others occurred as last-minute surprises, especially since April 1st. The entity confirmed that it will continue to release tickets until the end of the tournament, although it emphasizes that availability remains subject to limitations.

Até Last week, at least 9 group stage games had 1,000 tickets available, according to data from the FIFA Ticket Scout platform. Essa considerable number of tickets still on sale in the official market may be influencing the expectations of buyers in the secondary market.

Segundo reporting by Forbes, the resale market is also reacting to the possibility of tickets being available throughout the tournament. Essa perception leads potential buyers to wait for price reductions before finalizing their transactions.

Pressão policy on ticket prices

President Trump entered the debate over the cost of tickets at the beginning of the month. When speaking to The New York Post, he expressed solidarity with the disgruntled fans and stated that he would not pay for the ticket either. “Eu didn’t know that number. I certainly wish I was there, but to be honest, I wouldn’t pay that either,” he stated.

Essa’s public criticism reflected widespread frustration among football fans at Estados Unidos, México and Canadá. Initial ticket prices for the tournament generated significant outrage before the drop seen last month.

FIFA’s initial Otimismo did not materialize

In January, the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, had made an optimistic projection about demand. Infantino stated that demand for tickets was equivalent to “1,000 Copas’s Mundo at once” and that all 104 games would be sold out. Essa statement did not line up with availability data that emerged in the following weeks.

The persistence of available tickets in the group stage contradicts the international confederation’s initial expectations. The continuation of strategic ticket launches suggests that FIFA maintains greater supply capacity than anticipated.

Secondary Mercado reflects supply and demand dynamics

Tópicos important factors in the behavior of the resale market:

  • Queda 23% average price in just 30 days
  • Redução from US$730 to US$560 for the cheapest group stage ticket
  • Disponibilidade of a thousand tickets in at least 9 games until last week
  • Lançamentos Ticket Continuities Reduce Apparent Scarcity
  • Perspectiva of more tickets until the end of the tournament discourages accelerated purchases

The combination of FIFA’s continuous supply and lack of urgency among buyers created a favorable environment for price reductions in the secondary market. Compradores are waiting for additional discounts as the start of matches approaches.
