Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro Max is already arousing great expectations in the technology sector due to the jump in battery capacity. Recent supply chain leaks indicate that models hitting the market in September will have the largest battery ever installed in an iPhone. The goal is to exceed 5000 mAh in both the variant destined for China and the version for the United States. This initiative reinforces Apple’s effort to improve autonomy on premium devices.
All iPhone 18 Pro Max models must come with batteries above 5000 mAh. Units sold in the United States offer up to 5200 mAh, thanks to the exclusive adoption of eSIM. Versions for the Chinese market are limited to 5100 mAh due to the presence of a physical slot for a SIM chip.
Capacity differences observed in US and Chinese models
The variation in battery capacity between versions reflects Apple’s design decisions in the hardware. The iPhones 18 Pro Max destined for the United States adopt only eSIM technology and eliminate the physical SIM card slot. This choice frees up significant internal space, which allows a larger battery to be accommodated.
Devices manufactured for the American market have batteries ranging from 5100 to 5200 mAh.
In the Chinese market, however, usage habits and the requirements of local operators maintain the physical SIM card slot. Part of the internal space ends up occupied by the chip module. Therefore, the iPhones 18 Pro Max in China will have a capacity between 5000 and 5100 mAh. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the increase represents a relevant gain for users in both regions.
Design details of the new models are coming to light
In addition to the historic battery advancement, new information emerges about the external appearance of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Content creator Sahil Karoul shared images of dummy units that reveal the design. The photos indicate that the line will have four new color options. These visual changes, expected by fans, will come along with the internal improvements and will be made official at the launch event in September.
The iPhone model with the largest battery capacity in history reaches technology enthusiasts in September.
With the new generation, Apple seeks to deliver greater durability through the combination of optimized software and efficient hardware. In heavy use situations, such as games and high-resolution videos, the 5000 mAh barrier should raise the standard of daily autonomy. Industry analysts point out that this advance will be decisive for those who demand more from the device throughout the day.
