Sidney Magal will kick off the celebrations of his 60th career in Salvador, the city where he has lived for almost three decades. The show “Baile do Magal” is scheduled for July 18th, at the Concha Acústica of Teatro Castro Alves (TCA), and will also serve as an audiovisual record of the milestone.

The show brings together special appearances by Carlinhos Brown, Zeca Baleiro, Sandra de Sá and Gilmelândia. The guests represent different generations and musical styles, promising a night of dance, memory and Brazilianness on stage.

Salvador’s choice to open the festivities is not accidental. Magal has lived in the capital of Bahia since 1997, maintains strong ties with Bahia — her wife’s homeland — and considers the city her home. “Salvador is my home. There is no fairer place to celebrate 60 years than here, on this stage, with this audience”, said the singer.

The repertoire must bring back classics that have spanned generations, such as “Sandra Rosa Madalena”, “Meu Sangue Ferve por Você” and “Me Chama Que Eu Vou”. The show will also include versions of other national and international hits, transforming Concha into a large dance floor.

At 75 years old, Sidney Magal has built a unique trajectory in Brazilian popular music. It began in the 1960s in freshman programs, after moving through lyrical singing, and exploded in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits that mixed romanticism, Latin music and gypsy references. His notable presence on programs by Silvio Santos and Chacrinha consolidated the phenomenon.

In the 1990s, the success of “Me Chama Que Eu Vou” — included in the soundtrack of the soap opera “Rainha da Sucata”, on Globo — put him back in the spotlight, especially during the lambada fever. In addition to music, he acted in cinema in the film “Amante Latino”, playing a version of himself.

Known for his extravagant costumes, charisma and humor, Magal spent decades maintaining a connection with the public without losing his performing essence. The “Baile do Magal” celebrates exactly this ability to reinvent oneself and excite different generations.
