Former defender Ricardo Rocha, four-time world champion for the Brazilian team, was surprised this Wednesday (10) before leaving for the United States. He traveled to work as a commentator for the World Cup coverage.

At Tom Jobim International Airport (Galeão), in Rio de Janeiro, the former athlete learned of a debt of R$2,414.57. The debt referred to retroactive child support amounts for one of his daughters, identified when passing through immigration control.

The amount, however, was paid immediately. With the situation regularized, the 1994 world champion was able to continue his trip without hindrance.

Ricardo Rocha Filho, son of the former player, spoke to ge and clarified the details. “He was never detained. In fact, I spoke to him and he was already on the plane, boarding for Bogotá, Bolivia, and from there he will go to New York”, he stated. He added that the amount was a remainder of the pension, of which the father had no prior knowledge.

Through an official note, sent by his lawyer, the former player also spoke about what happened.

Ricardo Rocha’s defense clarified that the episode was due to a discrepancy in the values indicated in compliance with the court decision. The matter was promptly submitted for analysis and duly clarified before the Judiciary.

After clarifications from the defense, the judicial measure was revoked. This allowed the situation to be restored to normality for the former athlete.

The statement also expresses Ricardo Rocha’s regret. He criticized the hasty and sensationalist exposure of a confidential procedural issue, before the clarifications were concluded.

The note highlighted that Ricardo Rocha has always guided his career by respect for institutions, transparency and compliance with his obligations. He remains at the disposal of the Court for any necessary clarifications.

With the repeal of the measure, Ricardo Rocha continued with his professional agenda. He traveled to the United States, where he will be part of the World Cup coverage team.
