A woman was arrested on suspicion of attacking a 5-month-old baby in São João da Barra, in the North of Fluminense. In the images, she appears to be delivering a sequence of slaps and squeezes to the child’s face, in addition to making death threats against the baby and another child aged 1 year and 11 months. The case gained repercussion after the video was sent to the father of one of the children.
In the recordings, the woman repeats expressions such as “she is going to die” and states that she is going to kill “all” the children here, in an aggressive tone, while continuing the attacks. She presses the pacifier against the baby’s mouth and squeezes his cheek tightly, maintaining the threats throughout the action.
“You’ll find everything dead here, look!”
According to investigations, the video was sent to the father as a way of pressuring him to pay child support. The mother used the images of the attacks to collect the amount owed.
The woman ended up being arrested in the act in the early hours of Sunday (7), after the Guardianship Council received an anonymous complaint accompanied by the video. This Tuesday (9), the court granted provisional release with a precautionary measure, after a custody hearing.
g1 was unable to contact the woman’s defense until the last update of this report.
During the recording, in addition to the physical attacks on the baby, the suspect mentions a man and others involved, calling them “miserable guys” and blaming them for the failure to send the money. In a coercive tone, she states that non-payment would result in the death of the children.
In a statement, the São João da Barra Guardianship Council reported that it had received a complaint about the alleged attacks in the town of Açu.
After checking the incident and confirming the attacks, the agency filed a police report at the 145th Police Station and sent the victims to Sala Lilás, a municipal sector for reception and specialized care for victims of violence. The 5-month-old baby is in institutional care, while the other minor is under the responsibility of his father, who is not the baby’s father.
According to the Guardianship Council, the father of the baby attacked in the video has not yet appeared.
The Guardianship Council called the military police officers who located the suspect and took her to the police station.
She was charged with the crimes of bodily harm in the context of domestic violence and threats. The woman was sent to the penitentiary system and remains at the disposal of the Court.
