Samsung’s new smartwatches, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, have confirmed regulatory certifications in China. The models appeared in the CMIIT database, which indicates that the launch is close.
The documentation lists numbers SM-L3350 for the Galaxy Watch 9 and SM-L7150 for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. These codes point to versions destined for the Chinese market with eSIM support and 4G connectivity. The devices should be presented in July, along with the new generation of foldable Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8.
Battery details revealed
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 stands out for its 784mAh capacity, which represents an increase of around 35% compared to the 590mAh of the previous generation. The Galaxy Watch 9 should arrive in two versions: 40mm with a 382mAh battery (23% larger than the equivalent Watch 8 model) and 44mm with 435mAh.
This increase in energy capacity is one of the most relevant points, especially in the Ultra model, which historically prioritizes greater autonomy. The certifications also confirm that both watches will maintain 10W charging, the same as the current line.
What to expect from the launch
The watches had already appeared in other certifications in India and China, reinforcing the battery data. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is still tipped to bring 5G support and possibly the new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, which could improve both performance and energy efficiency.
The absence of the Classic model in recent certifications caught the attention of industry observers, but the current focus is on the two confirmed models. The joint launch with foldables suggests that Samsung wants to strengthen the Galaxy ecosystem in the second half of the year.
Impact for users
With larger batteries, the new Galaxy Watch should offer longer daily use, something that users of the current line often demand. The combination of updated hardware and software optimizations could bring the watches closer to a multi-day experience without recharging, especially in the case of the Ultra 2.
The official announcement should take place in mid-July, with availability shortly thereafter in several markets.
