Three deaths in work accidents in five days alarm the Rio Claro and Leme region
A 38-year-old man died after getting his head stuck in a machine while working at a company in Rio Claro (SP). The case occurred on Tuesday (9) and is the third fatal work accident recorded in the region in just five days.
Arnaldinho Rosa de Almeida worked at the Cristofoletti company, in the district of Batovi, when the incident happened at around 4:30 pm. Colleagues were surprised by his delay in checking a machine that had stopped and found him trapped between the conveyor belt and an iron bar.

They removed him from the equipment, provided first aid with the support of the company’s nursing team and called the Fire Department and Samu. The victim was taken to the UPA in Bairro do Estádio, but did not survive his injuries.

The Civil Police registered the case as a suspicious death. Experts from the Scientific Police were at the scene to investigate the circumstances. The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Rio Claro.
Company speaks out
In a statement, the Cristofoletti Group lamented the death and informed that it provides support to the family. The company, which has been producing flooring and ceramic tiles for more than 45 years, stated that it is investigating the causes and reinforced its commitment to workplace safety standards.

Series of accidents in the region
Arnaldinho’s case is the third in a short sequence. On Monday (8), bricklayer Antônio Aparecido Amâncio, aged 70, died in Leme after being hit by the cover of a gate during renovation work in Jardim Ana Paula.
On Saturday (6), young Tales Porchat de Moura Ribeiro, aged 24, lost his life in the same city while operating a forklift at a recycling company. The machine fell on him, causing a spinal injury. He died at the scene.
What changes in practice
Three deaths in five days highlight the risks in the local work environment. In the national context, Brazil recorded the highest number in the historical series in 2025: 806 thousand accidents and 3,644 deaths at work, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
Experts point out that, even with increasing formalization, security still needs to advance to reduce these numbers. Investigations into the three cases are ongoing to identify responsibilities and prevent new occurrences.
