Casemiro clarifies controversial speech involving striker Endrick in the Brazilian team
Midfielder Casemiro went public to explain a recent comment he made about striker Endrick that generated negative repercussions on social media. The original statement, made in the final stretch of the European season, indicated that the young center forward was “not yet part of the group”. Faced with interpretations that he was diminishing his teammate’s status, the midfielder assured that his objective was exactly the opposite.
The player’s demonstration takes place at the same time that his departure from Manchester United was made official. Casemiro expressed discomfort with the distortion of his words and stated that his real intention was to shield the 19-year-old attacker. The veteran highlighted that the athlete has the potential to compete in several editions of the World Cup and needs peace of mind to develop, without carrying the weight of protagonism prematurely.
According to the midfielder, the main pressure for results in large tournaments should fall on the most experienced athletes in the squad. Casemiro mentioned that promises like Endrick and striker Rayan, from Vasco, should enter the field with freedom to present natural football, without the obligation to lead the team technically in this moment of transition.

The history of shielding young talents in the Brazilian National Team
Casemiro’s stance of trying to take the pressure off Endrick repeats a common behavior of Brazilian team leaders in World Cup years. In 2002, then captain Cafu and the older players acted in a similar way to protect midfielder Kaká, who was 20 years old and starting his career in the world tournament.
Later, in 2014, the absence of experienced leadership to absorb the criticism was pointed out by analysts as one of the factors that overburdened Neymar, who at 22 years old was carrying the team’s main responsibility at the World Cup in Brazil.
