The animated series Invincible, made available by Prime Video, has established itself as a phenomenon among contemporary superhero productions. Characters such as Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Omni-Man and Mark Grayson himself quickly gained a wide audience, consolidating the plot’s popularity. The franchise’s narrative is known for its cast expansions and for featuring twists and turns that occasionally spark intense debates among enthusiasts.
Although the anticipation for the fifth season is palpable, with Prime Video having already confirmed the continuity of Mark Grayson’s saga, the exact date for its official release remains unknown, with a forecast for the beginning of 2027. However, a new experience from the Invincible universe reaches fans much earlier, on July 30, 2026, offering a new form of immersion in the acclaimed franchise (as determined by ICv2). This is an important distinction, as the “new adventure” announced does not refer to new episodes of the animation, but to an interactive modality.
Arrival of the tabletop RPG expands the Invincible universe
The franchise takes on an unprecedented dimension on July 30, 2026, with the official arrival in stores of the tabletop RPG Invincible: Superhero Roleplaying TTRPG. This is an exciting proposal, which has already demonstrated its success by surpassing the crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter. The game will be available at major retailers for US$29.99.
The first supporters who contributed to the RPG project, completely set in the world of Invincible, are already approaching the date of receipt of their kits. Each pack includes the official rulebook, based on the acclaimed Year Zero Engine system, and an initial three-act campaign called “Metro Mayhem”. In addition, the kit offers six ready-to-play heroes, with icons such as Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Monster Girl and Invincible himself, a reversible tactical map, themed cards, special dice and various markers.
Understand how the Year Zero Engine system works
For those unfamiliar with the mechanics, the Year Zero Engine (YZE) represents a robust tabletop RPG system. Developed by Swedish publisher Free League Publishing, or Fria Ligan, it debuted with the release of Mutant: Year Zero in 2014. Since then, the engine has been widely adopted and adapted for a diverse range of titles, including RPGs based on successful franchises such as Alien, Blade Runner and The Walking Dead universe.
The essence of how YZE works is remarkably straightforward: participants roll a set of six-sided dice, the number of which is determined by the combination of a specific attribute and skill. A roll resulting in a six usually indicates a success, and multiple sixes can confer additional advantages. Most of the actions and challenges are resolved with just a single move, which contributes to the system’s agility and ease of learning.
