Manchester United is prepared to start its journey in the 2026/27 Premier League with an away game. The Red Devils’ first challenge will be against newly promoted Hull City, marking the kickoff of the new English Championship campaign.

The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 22, starting at 12:30 pm (local time). This clash will be the second game of the opening round of the championship.

The league released United’s dates and opponents this morning. The Manchester team will face two new games in the first rounds, including a home clash against Ipswich Town on August 29th.

The first big classic of the season will take place in the fourth week of games. Michael Carrick’s men will host Manchester City at Old Trafford, in a duel that promises to shake up the competition.

Manchester United’s first challenges in the new campaign

United manager Michael Carrick expressed caution when analyzing the start of the table, despite acknowledging a mix of fixtures. The first part of the season features a series of games that will demand a lot from the team.

In between games against Ipswich and Manchester City, the team will make a trip to Merseyside to face Everton. The September run will conclude with a visit to Craven Cottage to play Fulham.

The month of October holds four more important matches. Tottenham Hotspur will be the opponents at home, followed by a trip to Leeds to face Leeds United. Bournemouth will come to Old Trafford before a tough trip to London to face Chelsea.

Crucial encounters against big Premier League rivals

After the home game against Aston Villa, scheduled for November 7th, the league will take a break for international commitments. Returning from the break, United will travel directly to Anfield for an intense clash with Andoni Irola’s Liverpool on November 21st. A home match against Brentford, on the 28th, completes November’s challenges, before one of the most traditional and eagerly awaited periods in the Premier League.

December will be a tight calendar month for the Carrick players, with six matches scheduled. The sequence includes games against Newcastle United (away), new members Coventry City (home), Crystal Palace (away), Arsenal (away), Nottingham Forest (home) and Sunderland (home). The Boxing Day derby will be played against Nottingham Forest, one of the most celebrated moments in English football.

The initial period of 2027 brings important tests for the cast

The second half of the season promises to be challenging for the Red Devils, starting with a series of complicated games. The first round of 2027 will test the team’s resilience.

A trip to face Brighton will be followed by a home game against Newcastle United, another away game against Aston Villa and finally the home derby against Liverpool on January 23. The month will end with a difficult away clash against Brentford.

The return match against Brighton will take place in February, a month in which Manchester United will also face Chelsea and Arsenal at home, as well as visiting Nottingham Forest. March will see United play against Sunderland (away), Everton (home) and Manchester City (away), in a period of games that could define the direction of the table.

Final sequence of clashes could be beneficial in the search for the title

If the team remains in contention for the league title, the end of the season presents a sequence of games considered favorable. The absence of major direct confrontations in the final rounds could be a crucial difference for a team aiming for the championship.

April’s schedule includes home games against Hull City and Crystal Palace, as well as a trip to face Ipswich Town. May ends the season in an unusual way, on the 30th, with duels against Coventry City (away), Bournemouth (away), Leeds United (home), Tottenham Hotspur (away) and Fulham (home).
