MSI has officially released the cost of the recent Claw 8 EX AI+ notebook, and the amount has generated great discussion among computer enthusiasts. The device will be launched on the North American market for US$1,799 and in Europe for 1,599 euros, values that considerably exceed the initial expectations raised during its presentation.
The financial scenario could become even more challenging for buyers. Representatives of the manufacturer indicate that manufacturing expenses remain under pressure and do not rule out the possibility of further readjustments in the coming months, if the situation in the electronic components market does not improve.
The Claw 8 EX AI+ was presented as one of the most advanced solutions in its category. The model integrates an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, Intel Arc B390 GPU, 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory and 1 TB SSD storage, in addition to an 8-inch IPS touch screen.
With this robust configuration, MSI aims to compete directly in the premium notebook PC segment. This niche market gained a lot of strength after the success of the Steam Deck and the entry of competitors such as the ASUS ROG Ally and the Lenovo Legion Go.
Despite the impressive technical specifications, the revealed price attracted more attention than the hardware itself. In many regions, the cost of the device significantly exceeds the value of next-generation consoles and even gaming notebooks equipped with dedicated graphics cards.
As stated by MSI spokespeople, the company has undertaken several efforts to reduce project costs. However, escalating component prices and increasing pressure on the global supply chain have limited opportunities for more impactful cost reductions.
This situation reflects a general trend observed across the technology sector. High demand for artificial intelligence hardware and the expansion of large data centers have put pressure on essential sectors such as memory, storage and next-generation semiconductors.
This phenomenon impacts manufacturers of various devices, including PCs, consoles and mobile devices. In recent months, companies such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have also implemented readjustments in several markets to compensate for increased operating costs.
MSI recognizes that the year 2026 is expected to be complex for both manufacturers and consumers. The company reaffirmed that the launch price of the Claw 8 EX AI+ represents the minimum value possible under current production conditions.
Sales of the Claw 8 EX AI+ are scheduled to begin on June 23. However, the warning about possible new adjustments may encourage some interested parties to anticipate the acquisition to avoid additional increases in the future.
