Raphinha’s injury to his right thigh represents a significant challenge to coach Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. After the 3-0 victory over Haiti, the coach of the Brazilian team, who had praised the number 11 as one of the best in the world, is unlikely to be able to count on the striker for the next clash against Scotland, scheduled for Wednesday.

Given Raphinha’s absence, the national team commander has different options to fill the gap in the offensive sector.

Luiz Henrique’s analysis for the right wing

Among the possible replacements, Luiz Henrique is the one who comes closest to the Barcelona striker’s style of play. Despite not having been the first choice to enter the previous duel, the 25-year-old player maintains Ancelotti’s preference for a fast striker who plays on the right, offering depth to the team.

However, a point to be considered is Luiz Henrique’s lesser versatility in attack, as he tends to remain more open on the wings. This profile differs from Raphinha’s movement, who, in the game against Morocco, demonstrated greater freedom, appearing more centralized and exploring the spaces left by Matheus Cunha, creating scoring chances. The choice of Luiz Henrique, therefore, would imply a tactical approach more focused on the width of the field, which could change the offensive dynamic that Ancelotti had been developing.

Options with a different profile for the team’s attack

Another promising alternative is Endrick. Despite his preferred position being center forward, the 19-year-old has impressive finishing power. His entry could harmonize well with the playing style proposed by Ancelotti alongside Matheus Cunha and Vinícius Junior, adding a direct threat to the opponent’s goal.

Ancelotti has been cautious about using Endrick, asking fans for patience and saying the striker will enter the field “at the right time”. The coach described the player as an “extraordinary talent”, emphasizing that Brazil will reap the rewards of his qualities in this and future editions of the World Cup, highlighting his patience and unusual maturity for his age.

Rayan’s participation in the team

Rayan also appears as a possibility for the vacancy left by Raphinha. A month younger than Endrick, the young man was chosen to start the first half against Haiti, but failed to stand out in his debut in the competition.

Called up for the first time in March this year, Rayan has a limited number of appearances for the Brazilian national team, totaling just three games. This experience is significantly less compared to that of Endrick, who has already accumulated 18 appearances, and that of Luiz Henrique, with 16. Rayan’s lesser experience on the international stage represents a major factor for Ancelotti, especially in a decisive game where experience and chemistry can be crucial to the result.

Carlo Ancelotti has just a few days to define the lineup for the Brazilian team. The team will end the group stage next Wednesday, the 24th, at 7pm (Brasília time), facing Scotland. The confrontation is extremely important, as it defines the leadership of group C, a position also disputed by Morocco, which faces Haiti. Securing leadership can offer a strategic advantage in the knockout stages of the competition.
