Vampire: The Masquerade expands its universe and arrives at Dungeons & Dragons with a new class
Publisher White Wolf is preparing a remarkable return, bringing long-awaited news to fans of its acclaimed tabletop RPGs. Known for titles such as Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Hunter: Revenge, the company will announce a big surprise involving Vampire: The Masquerade during Gen Con 2026. In addition, the popular Dimension 20 series is already exploring its first campaign dedicated to Vampire: The Masquerade. Now, the Vampire: The Masquerade universe is officially integrated into Dungeons & Dragons, introducing a new class of vampire to the game.
The Vampire: The Masquerade—Bound by Blood supplement, developed under license by Ghostfire Gaming, will be responsible for this integration. It will introduce the Kindred class, the term used to designate vampires in Vampire: The Masquerade, directly to the Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e system. According to the description available on D&D Beyond, Bound by Blood offers a “complete vampire class, powered by Blood Points, Disciplines, and the relentless Beast within.” The material will also include an exciting adventure set in the Dark Ages.
Paradox Interactive, the current owner of White Wolf, has provided additional details on its online platform. The company highlighted that the project was carefully designed by Ghostfire Gaming, recognized for its expertise in D&D and the success of Grim Hollow. The developers created a comprehensive vampiric class for fifth edition D&D, incorporating crucial elements like Blood Points, Disciplines, and the concept of the Beast. This initiative represents a significant bridge to introducing the dense atmosphere of the World of Darkness to 5th edition D&D tables, which traditionally focus on heroic fantasy, requiring careful adaptation of mechanics and narrative to preserve the essence of Vampire. The inclusion of a Dark Ages adventure reinforces this immersion.

Currently, the Dungeons & Dragons universe does not have an official class dedicated to vampires. Although it is possible for a character to be infected by vampirism or to use the Dhampir bloodline, half-vampiric in nature, introduced in Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, neither of these options constitutes a fully developed character class. Thus, the Kindred class appears as a solution for players who have always wanted to embody a vampire in D&D. However, the success of the experience will directly depend on Ghostfire’s ability to harmonize the complex mechanics of Vampire: The Masquerade with the already established and distinct system of Dungeons & Dragons.
Pre-orders for Vampire: The Masquerade—Bound by Blood are scheduled to begin later this month. The expectation is that the official launch of the product on the D&D Beyond platform will take place in July.
