Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, born in Oslo, Norway, has roots deeply linked to Brazil on his mother’s side, being the son of a Norwegian father. In 2023, the athlete chose to leave the Norwegian Ski Federation. This decision came after disagreements regarding control of his image and autonomy to manage his trajectory and style as an athlete.

Later this year, Braathen achieved a historic milestone by securing the gold medal in giant slalom at the Winter Olympics. This achievement not only represented Brazil’s first Olympic medal in the winter sport, but also an unprecedented feat for the entire South American continent. Prior to this Olympic victory, he had already been a pioneer as the first Brazilian to reach the podium in Alpine Skiing World Cup competitions.
