Meghan Markle posts rare photo of Harry with her children in honor of Father’s Day
Meghan Markle expressed an emotional tribute to Prince Harry, her husband, on a symbolic date for fatherhood.
The Duchess of Sussex released last Sunday, on a digital platform, an unprecedented photographic record that shows Harry alongside his two children, Archie, aged seven, and Lilibet, aged five, to mark the celebration of Father’s Day globally.
“They are immensely fortunate to have him as their father,” declared Meghan Markle in the description that accompanied the image. “We, the entire family, are deeply grateful,” she concluded.
The image captured a tender moment, with Archie and Lilibet warmly embracing their father, as he gave a genuine smile directly to the camera, highlighting the family’s joy.
The couple, who formally stepped back from their roles as British royals in 2021, chose to reside and raise their children in Montecito, California. This move was primarily aimed at shielding them from the intense media surveillance and constant scrutiny they would inevitably face if they remained in the UK.
Harry has openly discussed his experience with fatherhood, revealing how his own experience within the monarchy led him to adopt a different parenting model for his children compared to what he received from his father. In 2021, during his participation in the renowned podcast “Armchair Expert”, presented by actors Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, the prince confessed that the decision to leave the United Kingdom was directly linked to his purpose of “breaking with the pattern” of a royal education which, according to him, often neglected the emotional needs of children in favor of institutional duty.
“It is undeniable that many experiences of pain and suffering are passed down from one generation to the next,” Harry explained during the interview. “As parents, our obligation is to do our best to ensure: ‘What I experienced will not be experienced by you.’”
He added, reflecting on his own history, that King Charles, his progenitor, likely raised him “in the same way he was treated” during his own childhood and youth, perpetuating a cycle.
“What would be the most effective way to transform this dynamic for my own children?” Harry asked rhetorically during the conversation. “Well, the solution presented itself clearly: I transferred my entire family to the United States,” he said, consolidating his decision.
Prince Harry wasn’t the only member of the royal family to be honored at the Father’s Day celebration. His older brother, Prince William, who interestingly also celebrated his 44th birthday on the same festive date, received a loving tribute with a special photograph alongside his daughter, Princess Charlotte.
“Congratulations on your birthday and a Happy Father’s Day to the best father there is! We love you so much. C, G, C and L 💕”, said the message published on the family’s social networks. The initials refer to Catherine, Princess of Wales, and her children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
