Weather officials issued a severe thunderstorm warning for areas of Philadelphia and New Jersey. The security measure extends until 6:45 pm Eastern Daylight Time, covering Camden, Gloucester (north-central), Burlington (west-central) and Philadelphia (south-central) counties.
At around 6:23 pm local time, intense storm systems were detected. They formed in a band that ran from Camden, through Bellmawr, to Woodbury Heights, moving east at a speed of 30 miles per hour.
The main danger lies in gusts of wind, which can reach up to 96 km/h, accompanied by hail with a diameter similar to that of a 25 cent coin.
Information on the intensity and location of storm cells was captured and indicated by meteorological radar systems, allowing real-time monitoring of the phenomenon’s progression.
