Access issues hit platform X on the morning of Monday, June 22, 2026, leaving thousands of users without service. The peak of the failure was recorded around 9:30 am Eastern Time, with the highest concentration of complaints on the East Coast.
Thousands of people had reported difficulties with the social network, but the service was gradually restored. Apparently, the full functionality of the X platform has returned to normal after the period of widespread instability.
Minutes before 10am (Eastern Time) last Monday, June 22, the Downdetector website, which monitors outages in real time, indicated that more than 15,000 X users had reported problems. However, this number of reports began to decrease significantly around 10:20 am on the same day.
Most outage complaints were concentrated in East Coast cities such as New York, Boston and Washington, D.C., highlighting a notable regional impact. Large numbers of users in centers such as Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta also reported having faced difficulties with the social network, highlighting the wide scope of the failure. These outages on widely used platforms highlight the dependence of millions of people and companies, who can have their operations and communications severely impacted by sudden failures in essential digital services.
The X platform had already faced instability the day before, Sunday, June 21, indicating a recurrence of problems in its system. Data from Downdetector showed that more than 2,600 users reported difficulties with the network around noon (Eastern Time) on that date.
To seek clarification on the causes and nature of the problems, the USA TODAY team reached out to company X. To date, the company had not issued any official statement about the incidents.
