CD PROJEKT, known for developing globally successful titles, will officially be called CD PROJEKT RED, in a change that seeks to unify the group’s corporate identity with its game development division. The change, although subtle, reflects a new strategic phase for the Polish company.
Currently, the name CD PROJEKT RED exclusively identified the studio responsible for creating acclaimed games, including the upcoming production of The Witcher IV. Now, this brand will be extended to encompass the entire conglomerate of companies, not just the game development wing.
The decision to slightly change the nomenclature was formalized after a meeting of CD PROJEKT shareholders. The proposal to change the name was approved by the majority of the group’s investors, indicating a consensus on the company’s new strategic direction.
The company justified the change by explaining that, after the sale of the GOG platform at the end of last year, the creation and distribution of games were consolidated as its main activities. The new identity aims to improve the brand’s global promotion and facilitate the hiring of new talent, avoiding misunderstandings, as the CD PROJEKT RED studio already has greater international recognition among the public and professionals in the sector.
The name change will take effect as soon as the adaptations are duly included in the company’s statutes and registered in the Polish state register of companies. The process marks the formalization of this new stage for the game developer.
