Actress Emma Watson, 36, made a notable public appearance at a charity event, sharing the stage with Prince William and colleague Benedict Cumberbatch. This was one of his first official engagements after a considerable period away from the spotlight.
The well-known star of the “Harry Potter” saga was present on Monday (22) at a business forum organized by United for Wildlife. This initiative is a project of the Royal Foundation and Prince William, focused on combating the illegal wildlife trade, and took place during London Climate Action Week.
During his participation, Watson not only reinforced the importance of environmental awareness, but also shared a peculiar story. People magazine reported that the actress recalled an unexpected event from her time filming “Harry Potter”.
“I was at home and noticed the presence of several men with cameras equipped with long-range lenses. My first thought was: ‘Wow, it’s today! My God'”, described the actress, reliving the initial moment of surprise.
She continued explaining: “My mother promptly went out to talk to them, while I took the opportunity to discreetly leave through the back of the house. However, to my surprise, I discovered that the focus of these professional photographers was not my presence there.”
“Their real object of interest was an extremely rare bird, the red kite,” Watson revealed. “Individuals tried to access my garden, as they believed that a specimen of this species was located close to the property.”
The actress also mentioned that, after the discovery, she granted permission for the group of birdwatchers to enter her private area. The objective was to enable them to record images of the coveted uniquely colored bird.
“Thanks to continuous efforts, conservationists were successful in reintroducing red kites to the region,” added the artist. The reintroduction of the species demonstrates the positive impact of dedication to environmental protection.
Recognized by its striking reddish plumage, the red kite bird has faced a significant risk of extinction in the past. The story told by Emma Watson highlights the relevance of wildlife preservation initiatives.
