Take-Two Interactive made it official this Wednesday (24) that the long-awaited game “Grand Theft Auto VI”, known as “GTA 6”, will reach the North American market priced at US$79.99. This announcement sets a new price level for major titles in the gaming industry.
The company took the opportunity to reiterate the game’s release date, previously announced, set for November 19th. The confirmation of the date keeps expectations high among fans.
This initial cost for “GTA 6” exceeds the $69.99 range that has been the standard for major releases in recent years. Among the titles that adopted this price are “Ghost of Yōtei”, from Sony, and “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”, from Nintendo.
For enthusiasts looking for more content, the “Ultimate Edition” of the game will cost US$99.99. This expanded version will offer additional features such as exclusive vehicles, new weapons and cosmetic items that integrate with the narrative of the central characters, Jason and Lucia.
Even with the upward adjustment in value, industry experts do not foresee a drop in demand for the game. The strong anticipation and history of the “GTA” franchise are factors that mitigate the price impact.
A professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University (NYU) noted that, given the immense expectations surrounding “GTA VI”, the US$80 difference is seen as practically insignificant for the target audience.
However, the values for the Brazilian market and other regions have not yet been revealed by the producer.
Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders begin
Rockstar Games had already announced, last Thursday (18), the schedule for the start of pre-sales for “Grand Theft Auto VI” (GTA 6), scheduled to begin on June 25th. The developer also released the official art that will represent the game.
GTA 6 release date and platforms confirmed
The release of “GTA 6”, which was initially scheduled for the second half of 2025, was officially confirmed for November 19, 2026. The game will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S platforms.
The game’s synopsis details the journey of “Jason and Lucia”, who, aware of adversity, find themselves involved in a complex criminal conspiracy in the sunny state of Leonida after a robbery that doesn’t go as planned. They are forced to rely on each other to survive.
