The body of lawyer Rodrigo Pantaleão, who recently caused controversy by agreeing to the conviction of his own client during an investigation hearing, was discovered lifeless on Thursday (25) in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. The Civil Police authorities began an investigation to determine the circumstances of the death.
Delegate Alex Bonfim, responsible for the Capital Homicide police station, confirmed that the jurist was located in a residence in the Itacorubi neighborhood. The discovery occurred after complaints from residents about a strong odor coming from the property. The specific line of investigation has not been revealed to the public at this time.
Preliminary information indicates that the professional had already been dead for a few days before being found in his home. The initial examination did not identify signs of invasion at the location and the victim did not show any visible injury marks.
In an official statement, the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) of Santa Catarina clarified that it took all necessary measures with the police authorities to closely monitor the progress of the Sectional’s investigations.
The legal controversy that marked the lawyer’s work
The case that brought the lawyer to public attention involves a video of an online session, held on May 28, where Pantaleão is seen accepting the accusation presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office against his representative. The images quickly spread and went viral on social media in recent weeks.
Given the situation, judge Carolina Ranzolin declared at the time that the defendant was defenseless.
The video showed Rodrigo Pantaleão using a cell phone throughout prosecutor Raul Rogério Rabello’s explanation. He only returned his attention to the camera when the judge asked him to present the final arguments of the case.
“The defense corroborates the statements made by the prosecutor’s office. Nothing more, Your Excellency”, were the lawyer’s words in response.
