The Palmeiras team began its interseason on Wednesday night (24), at the Football Academy facilities. The work included the presence of defender Barboza, officially integrated for the second semester, and an additional surprise in the squad.
Among the new additions, goalkeeper Kaique, 23 years old, returned to the team after a loan period at Nacional, in Portugal, and has already participated in training. Created from the youth teams, the player returns with the expectation of receiving more chances in the main team, with plans to be more prominent in 2027.
The club also announced that goalkeeper Aranha is in the process of negotiating a loan, although the destination was not specified. In the sector, Palmeiras continues with Carlos Miguel, considered the starter, and Marcelo Lomba, an experienced goalkeeper who acts as a reserve.
The re-presentation schedule for the night period aimed to ensure that the cast fulfilled the required fast before routine exams. All athletes will undergo medical evaluations on Thursday morning, at Hospital Sírio Libanês, the team’s partner institution.
During the rest period, the players were able to watch the Brazilian team’s victory against Scotland, the result of the third and final round of the World Cup group stage.
Athletes begin preparation before the main group
Some names, such as Paulinho, Felipe Anderson and Arthur, had already anticipated returning to training at the Football Academy. Vitor Roque was the only athlete who did not have time off, focusing exclusively on recovering from ankle surgery.
Seven players called up for the World Cup – Emiliano Martínez, Flaco López, Gustavo Gómez, Jhon Arias, Mauricio, Piquerez and Sosa – were absent from the first activity. The date of their return to the club has not yet been established.
Giay was another absence in the re-presentation. The right-back remained with the Argentine team at the World Cup, at the invitation of the federation, and received an extended period off. He is expected to join the squad at the beginning of next week, according to reports.
Marlon Freitas completed the list of those absent from training. The midfielder was released from activity due to a family problem.
Palmeiras will have a training period until July 23rd, when they will face Coritiba in the Brazilian Championship. This break will be essential for Abel Ferreira’s technical committee to make the necessary adjustments and prepare the squad for the challenges of the decisive phases of the season.
