A violent armed attack recorded this Saturday morning (27) seriously injured an officer belonging to the Military Police of the State of São Paulo. Ronickson Pimentel dos Santos, who serves as first lieutenant, was the target of gunfire while traveling through the central region of São Caetano do Sul, a municipality that is part of the metropolitan region. The public security agent was out of office hours and was wearing civilian clothes at the time the criminal attack took place. The incident takes on even more dramatic aspects due to the fact that the victim is directly related to teenager Eloá Pimentel, protagonist of one of the most traumatic police episodes in the country’s recent history.
Details of the violent approach and specialized emergency assistance
The ambush occurred on one of the busiest roads in the municipality of ABC Paulista, Avenida Goiás. According to preliminary surveys carried out by area patrol teams, the military police officer was waiting for the signal to open at an intersection, driving his private motorcycle. At this moment of mandatory stopping, two unidentified individuals quickly approached using another two-wheeled vehicle. Without offering any chance of reaction or defense to the officer, the suspects fired shots at close range, hitting the officer in the skull.
Due to the extreme severity of the injury caused by the projectile, members of the public and area vehicles that arrived in the first few minutes immediately called advanced medical support. The Military Police Air Patrol Group sent an Águia helicopter to quickly extract the patient. This type of air medical transport is a standard and vital protocol in cases of severe brain trauma, where the so-called golden hour determines the chances of survival and minimization of neurological sequelae. The lieutenant was stabilized on the public road before being boarded on the aircraft and transferred to a reference hospital unit, whose identification was kept confidential by the authorities to guarantee the safety of the facilities and family members.

The attack against a member of Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar, the 1st Shock Police Battalion, generated an immediate and large-scale institutional response. On that occasion, the teenager, just 15 years old, had her residence, located in a housing complex in Santo André, invaded by Lindemberg Fernandes Alves. Unsatisfied with the end of his romantic relationship, the 22-year-old held his ex-girlfriend and a friend at gunpoint for more than one hundred uninterrupted hours. The false imprisonment, broadcast live on television stations, culminated in a fatal outcome when the Special Tactical Actions Group decided to invade the apartment.
During the tactical incursion, the kidnapper managed to fire shots that hit the teenager in the head and groin area, causing irreversible injuries that led to her death. The episode left indelible marks on the Pimentel family, who now, more than fifteen years after that mourning of national proportions, are once again facing the anguish of having a loved one fighting for his life in a hospital bed after being a victim of armed crime on the streets of the metropolitan region.
