Details of the collision involving a small aircraft into the tallest building in Beijing
Images that were widely shared on digital platforms on Friday and had their authenticity verified, show the moment the small aircraft reaches the construction site. The force of the shock shattered two glass panels, creating an opening in the skyscraper’s outer structure. The aircraft, described as having the proportions of a common vehicle, partially disintegrated and its wreckage fell onto the public road.
Considerable police mobilization was noted in the region, with several roads close to the building being blocked to car traffic. Police agents acted to prevent onlookers from recording images of the scene and to keep pedestrians away from the risk area.
The building affected is the Citic Tower, also called China Zun, an imposing 108-story building. Located in the eastern part of Beijing, in the financial center, the building serves as the headquarters for the state-owned conglomerate Citic Group and is recognized as the tallest in the Chinese capital.
