Formula 1 confirmed the Drivers’ Parade with Lego mini cars during the British Grand Prix, replicating the successful performance seen at the Miami GP in the previous season.

Each of the 22 competitors will win a customized version of the vehicles, assembled with an impressive 28,000 pieces of the famous blocks, for the parade that precedes the main race in Silverstone.

The manufacture of these models required meticulous work from 20 designers and engineers, who dedicated more than 6,400 hours at Lego’s production center in the Czech Republic, and are capable of reaching a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

With a total weight of 280 kilograms, each mini car incorporates 65 kilograms of Lego components and is equipped with standard go-kart wheels and tires.

The collaboration between Formula 1 and Lego became a global phenomenon at last year’s Miami Grand Prix, when drivers took over the vehicles, with one behind the wheel and their teammate in the passenger seat.

The traditional parade quickly escalated into a fun competition between the ten Lego cars, resulting in pieces falling off along the route, much to the delight of the public.

For this year’s British GP event, which precedes the start of the race by 90 minutes – starting at 9:30 am Brasília time – twenty-two Lego mini cars will be on display.

Emily Prazer, commercial director of Formula 1, highlighted the previous show in Miami as one of the highlights of the season, highlighting how the initiative captivated the global audience and revealed a more relaxed side of the competition, essential for attracting new fans, especially young audiences.

She added that the idea for this year is to build on this success, offering a grand spectacle both for spectators present at the British GP and for those watching from home, combining the speed of Formula 1 with the creativity of Lego blocks to inspire and entertain all generations.

Julia Goldin, director of products and marketing at the Lego Group, also commented on the repercussion, stating that the energy and enthusiasm shown by the drivers and the public in Miami at the previous event were undeniable.
