Fans of the acclaimed series “Landman”, created by Taylor Sheridan and starring Billy Bob Thornton, will need to wait longer than expected for new episodes. Production over the Texas oil sector, which has won over the public, will face an extended schedule.
The plot, recognized for its depth, delivers a narrative with dark passages, balancing them with moments of lightness and touches of humor, a hallmark of Sheridan’s works.
One of the stars of the production, Sam Elliott, has already publicly commented that the audience seeks in the series a refuge from the difficulties of everyday life, which reinforces the cultural impact of the attraction.
Due to its growing popularity, viewers have expressed great anticipation about the return of the series, demonstrating how eager they are for news.
However, expectations of a quick return will need to be adjusted as the launch is not happening soon.
Landman production extends schedule and postpones release to 2027
The second season of “Landman” concluded on January 18, 2026, and there was early hope that the third season could arrive later this year.
The situation was clarified by actor James Jordan, whose statements, made at the beginning of August, only came to light recently after gaining prominence in the specialized media.
Jordan shared that the team hopes to keep director Stephen Kay at the helm. “We started filming in September and we will film during the first quarter of next year,” said the actor in an interview.
Therefore, if filming continues until the first quarter of 2027, it becomes unfeasible for the third season of “Landman” to be released in 2026.
With this extension, the most optimistic forecast for the premiere of new episodes is between May and the end of summer 2027.
In a related context, actress Ali Larter defended the way Taylor Sheridan writes female characters, refuting criticisms about the representation.
While postponement is not ideal, delays are a common occurrence in the entertainment industry. Fans, in turn, tend to accept the wait, as long as Taylor Sheridan’s series maintains the same quality as previous seasons.
The expectation is that the final result of the third season will meet the high standard already established, something that Sheridan’s productions usually deliver.
